Number Of Ingredients 14

1-1/2 lbs. boneless beef stew meat, or chuck cut into 1-1/2-inch cubes
large soup bone
3 to 4 cups cold water
1 ts. salt
1/2 ts. pepper
2 bay leaves
2 cups sliced carrots
1 cup chopped cabbage
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
28-oz. can (3 cups) Italian style tomatoes
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 beef bouillon cube
Dash oregano

Steps:

  • In heavy 3-quart saucepan or Dutch oven, combine
  • beef, soup bone, water, salt, pepper and bay leaves. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; add carrots, cabbage, celery and onion. Simmer 2 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Remove bone and bay leaves. Add tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, bouillon cube and oregano. Simmer for an additional 30 minutes. Makes: 6 (1-cup) servings
