Steps:
- 1. Pick over, rinse and place in a large saucepan lentils 2. Add water, onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric. Simmer, covered, until lentils are tender, 20-30 minutes. Puree and return to saucepan. 3. Stir in water and salt. Simmer, partially covered, until Dal is thickened to consistency of pea soup, about 20 minutes. 4. Stir in pepper, tomato and cilantro. Serve with cooked rice!
