Crock Pot Hearty Honey Wheat Bread ( easy) image

This is one of the easiest yeast breads I have ever made. I tweaked the yeast method in the recipe to make it no fail. Anyone could make this bread. It takes about 10 minutes to prepare. Place it in the slow cooker. 3 hours later you have fresh baked bread. Slather some butter on it and dig in.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 package(s) 3/4 ounce rapid yeast
2 tablespoon(s) warm water for yeast
2 cup(s) scalded warm milk
2 tablespoon(s) canola or vegetable oil
1/4 cup(s) honey
3 cup(s) whole wheat flour
3/4 cup(s) all purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon(s) salt

Steps:

  • Get large crock pot ready. Place on high. Grease a baking dish that will lay flat on bottom inside crock pot. I use small casserole dish. Crumble aluminum foil or put something on bottom of pot to create a buffer between the bottom and baking dish.
  • Place very warm not hot water in a small cup or glass. Add package of yeast and stir well sprinkle 1 tsp of sugar on top. Cover with towel. Set aside! For a few minutes. Yeast is activated if the top is foamy looking like in picture.
  • Place the warm Milk, oil, honey, salt, and activated yeast in bowl. Beat together with mixer for a minute.
  • Add the remaining cup of wheat flour, and all purpose flour. Mix together well.
  • Pour in to greased dish. Place dish inside crock pot. Cover and cook on high for 2 1/2 hours. Let stand 5 minutes. Invert on to platter, and serve warm.
