Cinnamon Biscuits image

When I don't have time for cinnamon rolls, I make these quick treats for the kids.

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 c sifted all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 c vegetable oil
3/4 c buttermilk
1 stick butter or margarine, softened
3/4 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
GLAZE
2 Tbsp milk
add enough powdered sugar for glaze consistency.

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees; grease a 9 inch round baking pan.
  • 2. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl and mix well.
  • 3. Stir in vegetable oil; add buttermilk and stir until just blended.
  • 4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Roll dough into a 15x8 inch rectangle.
  • 5. Spread butter over the dough.
  • 6. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, mix well. Sprinkle over butter.
  • 7. Roll up jelly-roll style starting from ong side; pinch seams to seal.
  • 8. Cut the roll into 1-1/2 inch slices; arrange the slices, cut side up, in prepared baking pan.
  • 9. Bake until lightly browned, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • 10. Remove from oven; combine powdered sugar and milk to form a glaze; spread over tops of biscuits.
