Chorizo Chili image

This is my Son's favorite chili. It just spicy enough for him. He has me add a Habanero for good measure...lol! This can be cooked on the stove or in a crock pot. I have made it in both... either way its a mighty tasty dish...Enjoy!! My photos

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 1/2 lb ground chorizo or other spiced pork
2 - 3 jalapeno's chopped, with or without seeds and membranes
1 habanero pepper, fresh, chopped ( optional )
1 medium onion, chopped
2 - 3 clove garlic, minced
15 oz can black beans, drained and crushed - can add more if you like
11 oz corn, drained - canned or frozen
30 oz can tomatoes, crushed
15 oz can tomato sauce
1 tsp ground oregano
2 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
2 Tbsp hot chile sauce or asian hot sauce
2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp brown sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Chop onion, peppers,garlic.
  • 2. Place meat in Dutch oven or similar on stove top burner. Brown meat on medium heat setting for 5 to 7 minutes. Add the vegetables and cook till tender, drain.
  • 3. Add all other ingredients in crock pot or dutch oven to finish cooking.
  • 4. Cook for 4 hours on low in slow cooker or cook for 1 1/2 to 2 hours on medium to medium low heat on stove top burner.
  • 5. Enjoy...make this chili as hot or mild as you like, depending on the amount of peppers and spices you use.
