Cheesy Grits image

Married to a Southerner, I had to come up with a good grits recipe..this is the one he loves the most. It's so creamy and cheesy..yum!!

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 1/3 c quick cooking grits
5 1/3 c water
1 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter
4 oz cream cheese, cubed
6 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • 1. Get your ingredients together
  • 2. On med-high heat; bring water and salt to a boil
  • 3. Add grits slowly, stir constantly as not to clump or stick. Reduce the heat to low; cover and cook for 20-25 minutes till desired consistency. Stir every 3-4 min so not to stick.
  • 4. When cooked to desired creaminess; add the cream cheese and butter, stir until well blended.
  • 5. Now add the cheese, and stir until completely melted and blended.
  • 6. These are so creamy and cheesy!..ENJOY My kids like the leftovers for breakfast w/ bacon crumbled in. Add a little water as these will be thick, heat in a saucepan on low or in the microwave for approx. 1 min, stir and check temp, may need to add a few more seconds.
