CAKE MIX TRUFFLES image

My sister in law, Marilyn, makes these during the holidays. I got the recipe from her. I won't make them myself because I know how many of her's I eat in one sitting and I really couldn't have them in the house or they would need to get a crane to help me through my front door. BUT, if you have more discipline than me then by all means, give these a try...

Number Of Ingredients 3

- 1 cake mix, any flavor (chocolate is the most deadly)
- 1 can chocolate frosting
- 1 lb. melting milk chocolate

Steps:

  • Bake your cake mix as directed on box. After it cools, break it up and crumble it all up in a large bowl. Add all the frosting to it and with hands, moosh it up altogether. Form into 1 inch balls. Place the balls on waxed papered cookie sheet and place in freezer for about an hour. Melt your chocolate and dip the frozen balls in the chocolate to coat. You can add sprinkles then OR melt another color of chocolate and drizzle on the truffle for added decoration. Put back in freezer until set. (1/2 hour?)
  • Note: IF I were to make these, I would experiment. Orange cake mix with chocolate frosting...spice cake with cream cheese frosting...cherry frosting with devil's food cake mix. If I had cherry flavoring I would add 1/2 teaspoon to the icing for stronger flavor. (Gosh, I'm talking myself into these as I type!)
