Buttermilk Pound Cake image

This recipe is from "Paula Deen & Friends Living it Up Southern Style" Great topped with strawberries and fresh whipped cream

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 stick butter, softened
1/2 c shortening
3 c sugar
5 eggs
1 c buttermilk
1 Tbsp vanilla extract

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 325. Grease and flour a 10" Bundt
  • 2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and set aside.
  • 3. Using an electric mixter,cream together the butter, shortening and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Add the vanilla and mix well.
  • 4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 3/4 hrs. Remove the cake from the oven and cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Invert onto a cake plate. Can be served warm.
