I can't say why exactly, but I prefer these bars to cookies. If you haven't tried them, now is the time. And have a tall glass of cold milk handy.

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 1/4 c all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 c (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 c sugar
3/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp vanilla
2 large eggs
12 oz (1 lg. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1 c chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, combine butter, sugars, and vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add egg; beat well.
  • 2. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • 3. Spread into a lightly greased 9x13x2" pan. Bake in a 375-degree oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

●3/4 cup granulated sugar
●3/4 cup packed brown sugar
●1 teaspoon vanilla extract
●2 large eggs
● 2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
●1 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375° F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan.
  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Spread into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
