1/4 tsp. grated fresh ginger
2 Tbs. fresh lemon juice
2 Tbs. simple syrup
3/4-1 cup water or soda

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients and serve over ice. To make simple syrup, combine one part water to one part sugar in sauce pan and heat, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved.

3 cups sugar
16 cups (4 quarts) water
12 to 14 slices gingerroot , (about 2-inch piece)
4 cups fresh lemon juice (24 lemons)
2 lemons, sliced

Steps:

  • Mix sugar, water and gingerroot in 8-quart Dutch oven. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally; remove from heat. Cool 15 minutes. Remove gingerroot.
  • Pour sugar mixture into pitcher or large glass or plastic container. Stir in lemon juice. Refrigerate at least 1 hour until chilled.
  • Serve lemonade over ice with lemon slices.

16 cups water (4 quarts)
4 cups fresh lemon juice (24 lemons)
12 -14 slices fresh gingerroot

Steps:

  • Mix sugar water and gingerroot in an 8 quart heavy pan.
  • Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool 15 minutes. Remove gingerroot.
  • Pour sugar mixture into a pitcher or large glass or plastic container.
  • Stir in lemon juice and refrigerate at least on hour until chilled.
  • Serve over ice garnished with lemon slices.
  • I'm not sure of the number of servings. I've halved this and served it at tea attended by 9 and had plenty.
  • Cooking time is chilling time.
