6 large sweet onions, sliced (about 12 cups)
1/2 cup butter, cubed
2 cups crushed butter-flavored crackers
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup shredded Romano cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°. In a large skillet, saute onions in butter until tender and liquid has evaporated. Place half the onions in a greased 2-qt. baking dish; sprinkle with half the cracker crumbs and cheeses. Repeat layers., Bake, uncovered, 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

2 c diced vidalia or sweet onion
2 Tbsp grated parmesan cheese

  • 1. Combine the onion, mayonnaise, and swiss cheese.
  • 2. Place in deep dish pie plate or casserole dish. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese
  • 3. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.

1 cup white rice (cook as directed with 1 tsp. salt)
7 cups vidalia onions, medium diced (Seems like a lot, but it cooks down)
4 tablespoons butter or 4 tablespoons margarine
1 1/2 cups half-and-half or 1 1/2 cups 2% low-fat milk
1 1/2 cups swiss cheese, grated (1/2 pound)

Steps:

  • Sauate onions in butter til soft.
  • Combine ingredients and place in 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
  • Can be made a day ahead. Tastes even better the next day.

1/4 cup sour cream

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, saute onions in butter until tender. Remove from the heat; stir in sour cream. , Spoon half into a greased 1-qt. baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese.   • Quarter onions halfway through and open slightly. Place each on a 18x12-in. piece of heavy-duty foil. Place 2 teaspoons butter in center of each onion; sprinkle with salt, pepper and, if desired, garlic salt. Fold foil to seal tightly. Bake at 350° until onions are tender, 50-60 minutes. I had this at a friends house this week and had to have the recipe! It is so good! She made it with Pam butter flavored spray instead of the butter and it was still fabulous!

6 vidalia onions or 6 any sweet onions
6 chicken bouillon cubes
6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons butter flavored Pam cooking spray
6 teaspoons brown sugar

Steps:

  • Slightly hollow out each onion.
  • Arrange onions in small baking dish.
  • Place 1 bouillon cube in each onion, top with butter and 1 tsp brown sugar.
  • Bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
  • These can also be made on the grill.
  • Just double wrap in aluminum foil and grill until tender.

1/2 cup butter
30 Ritz crackers (use one sleeve of crackers, coarsely crushed)
1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Set oven to 350 degrees.
  • Butter a 2-qt casserole dish.
  • In a large saucepan, melt butter.
  • Add onions to pan, over high heat, saute until soft, and just starting to brown, about 20-25 minutes
  • Remove from heat.
  • Place half of the onions in the baking dish; cover with half the crackers, and half of the Parmesan.
  • Repeat to make another layer of onions, crackers and Parmesan Bake, uncovered, until cheese on top is lightly browned, about 25 mins Serve warm.

2 cubes beef bouillon
2 dashes salt
2 dashes pepper
2 dashes ground paprika

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Peel and core onions, then slice halfway through. Place onions on sections of aluminum foil large enough to wrap them completely. Place a bouillon cube in the center of each onion; place pat of butter on top. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Wrap the onions in foil.
  • Roast in preheated oven for 15 minutes.
