Strawberry Angel Delight Lush Dessert Recipe image

How to make the most heavenly strawberry angel delight for dessert. Easy, luscious recipe with angel food cake, Dream Whip, and cream cheese.

Provided by Mel Lockcuff

Categories     No Bake Desserts

Time 5h

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 1/2 tablespoons corn starch
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup strawberry purée*
2 envelopes Dream Whip (1 box)
1 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
16 ounces cream cheese (softened)
2 cups powdered sugar
10 ounces angel food cake
6 cups sliced strawberries

Steps:

  • Whisk corn starch and water together in a small bowl or liquid measuring cup.
  • Add the corn starch mixture together with the sugar in a medium saucepan.
  • Mix in the strawberry purée.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over low to medium heat, constantly stirring with a spatula. Once the mixture boils, cook for 3 to 5 more minutes, or until your sauce thickens up and turns a deep ruby red.
  • Then remove your strawberry sauce from the heat and allow it to cool. I like to put mine in the freezer, stirring occasionally, while I go about making the filling and preparing my crust.
  • Add the Dream Whip, milk, and vanilla to a large mixing bowl.
  • Whisk them together, according to package directions, 'til the mixture begins to form soft peaks. It'll take about 4 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the cream cheese well. Then add both the cream cheese and the powdered sugar to the Dream Whip mixture.
  • Whisk for about 3 to 5 minutes, or 'til smooth and creamy.
  • Slice the angel food cake into 1-inch cubes, and spread those cubes in the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish.
  • Spread the creamy Dream Whip filling over the angel food cake.
  • Once the sauce has cooled, mix the sliced strawberries into the sauce.
  • Then spread that wonderful strawberry sauce over the Dream Whip filling.
  • Cover and chill it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible, before serving.

NO-BAKE STRAWBERRY ANGEL FOOD CAKE WITH WHIPPED CREAM

No-Bake Strawberry Angel Food Cake with Whipped Cream image

Provided by Natalie Clark

Categories     Fruit

Time 4h15m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 13-ounce angel food cake (size may vary from store to store)
1 6-ounce box strawberry Jell-o mix
2 cups water, boiled
1 container Cool Whip
1 16-ounce container frozen strawberries in sugar (or 21 oz strawberry pie filling)

Steps:

  • First, let the strawberries and Cool Whip rest on the counter. The strawberries will mix with the Jell-o better if they're not rock hard, and the Cool Whip will incorporate better if it's a little soft.
  • Slice the angel food cake into 1/2 to 1-inch pieces using a serrated knife, and spread half of the angel food cake pieces on the bottom of the 9×13 inch dish. (Or a fun glass dish like a trifle bowl.)
  • Bring two cups of water to a boil. In a large mixing bowl, combine the water and Jell-o powder. Stir until fully combined.
  • Then, add the frozen strawberries and stir, breaking up the chunks until they have melted. Fold the Cool Whip a few dollops at a time into the strawberry mixture, stirring gently to combine without deflating the dessert. Again, you can leave it a little less than uniformly combined, but you want it well-mixed.
  • Spread half the mixture over the cake. Add the remaining cake, then cover with the remaining mix. Spread to ensure the cake is fully covered.
  • Alternatively, you can combine all the cake and mix in a large bowl. You may prefer this method if you're serving the dessert in a trifle or glass bowl.
  • Chill in the fridge four hours or overnight. If the cake feels wet or jiggles, it's not set.
  • To glam it up, you can cover the chilled cake with Cool Whip, or garnish or decorate the top with sliced strawberries.

VERA'S STRAWBERRY PRESERVES

Vera's Strawberry Preserves image

I love Vera's directions for this recipe. Get ready for a work out! Vera wrote in the margins "The shaking is the secret of success! It causes the berries to absorb the syrup and remain plump and whole. Never cook more than 2 quarts at a time and be sure to SHAKE THE BERRIES!" I know this makes 2 quarts, but am guessing at the servings. Cooking time does not include cooling time.

Time 50m

Yield 2 quarts, 20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 quarts strawberries, stemmed
9 cups sugar
1 cup water

Steps:

  • Put sugar and water into a large kettle.
  • Stir and boil until sugar is well dissolved.
  • Add the strawberries. "Shake".
  • Boil 15 minutes at a rolling boil. "Shake more".
  • DO NOT STIR BERRIES!
  • Shake kettle while boiling, skimming any scum with a metal spoon. "You haven't shaken enough".
  • Pour into flat pans or trays, shaking here and there until cooled "Shake until you think you've shaken enough. Now shake again".
  • For best results, shake as often as possible while cooking and cooling!
