THREE MEAT BBQ BAKED BEANS
These are ALWAYS a hit. The slow cooker makes them easy to have ready for a BBQ at home or away. I mix them up the day before and just plug it in day of! I usually make a double or triple batch. They freeze very well so I've got a batch ready for the next BBQ! You can also bake them in a 350 oven, uncovered, for any hour instead of using the slow cooker. Enjoy!

- In the same skillet, cook and crumble the ground beef and sausage until cooked through. Drain and set aside.
- Combine the bacon, beef, sausage and all beans in the crock. Stir in the brown sugar, barbecue sauce, mustard, hot sauce (if using) and onion soup until well blended.
- Cook on low for four hours. You can put the crock in the fridge at this point and cook within 48 hours. You can also cook the beans uncovered in a 350 oven for 1 hour.
BBQ BAKED BEANS
BBQ baked beans are a summer staple. This shortcut version relies on ordinary canned baked beans, which we dress up with fresh peppers, onions, cider vinegar and barbecue sauce. The sweet and tangy side dish is perfect for a summer barbecue, picnic, potluck or weeknight dinner. The beans taste even better the next day, so they can be prepared ahead of time and reheated or served at room temperature.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Heat an oven-proof heavy-bottom pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook, stirring often, until the fat has started to render and the bacon is beginning to crisp, about 5 minutes. Add the onions and bell pepper and continue to cook, stirring often, until the vegetables are slightly softened, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in the canned beans, barbecue sauce, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire, brown sugar, mustard powder, cayenne, 1 teaspoon salt and several grinds of black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the pot to the oven and bake (uncovered) until the sauce thickens and the beans on top begin to brown, about 40 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature.
THE BEST BARBECUE BAKED BEANS
It's not a real barbecue until a dish of baked beans shows up! While there are many different versions and many different techniques, I'm here to tell you that these are the best. These are the tastiest, most satisfying, the easiest, and the meatiest. They not only make a great side dish, but if the budget's a little tight, these will absolutely work as a main course. Sprinkle the top with sliced green onion if you like.

Steps:
- Add beans (with seasoning packet) and water to a large crock pot then cook for 4-6 hours on high or until beans are tender.
- Meanwhile, cook onions with ground beef until beef is cooked through, seasoning with salt and pepper then set aside.
- Cut bacon into small strips then cook until crispy and browned. Remove bacon from pan drippings then set aside.
- Cut smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces then set aside.
- Once beans are tender, ladle out any excess liquid; set aside to use later if needed. Add salt and pepper to taste, barbeque sauce and remaining ingredients, including the ground beef, bacon and smoked sausage. Gently stir to combine.
- Add reserved liquid from cooking the beans, 1/2 cup at a time, if needed to ensure the contents of the crock pot have a nice, thick sauce. You don't want things to be runny but you do want to make sure there's enough sauce to coat everything nicely (such as with baked beans).
- Continue cooking 1-2 hours on high or until sausage is heated through and everything is hot and bubbly.

THREE MEAT BAKED BEANS
Savory and sweet! Start with a couple of cans of pork and beans and add Polish sausage, ground beef and bacon to make a quick and easy inexpensive meal. A little brown sugar and molasses adds just the right amound of sweetness. I've also used dark corn syrup when I don't have molasses.

THREE-BEAN BAKED BEANS (OVEN OR CROCK POT)
This is my summer time dish for all BBQ's and I always double the recipe. If you enjoy baked beans you have to try this one. It's from a '98 TOH and whenever I make it someone always asks for the recipe. I have personally never made it in the oven since the crock pot does just fine and who wants to heat up the house in the summer? When using the crock pot I will take the lid off for the last hour or so (+/-) of cooking - this will thicken it up if you like your beans thick right at serving. Leftovers freeze very well.
