I love the "fake"-ish meat in Taco Bell tacos... I'm hoping this recipe will come close to achieving that thick, greasy, salty meat I love!

Number Of Ingredients 16

1 1/3 lbs lean ground chuck
1 1/2 tablespoons masa corn flour
4 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon instant minced onion
1/2 teaspoon beef bouillon
12 taco shells
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 head shredded lettuce
2 roma tomatoes, diced

Steps:

  • Meat Directions.
  • Mix together all ingredient except the meat.
  • Stir the spice mixture well making sure that all spices have been blended well.
  • Crumble ground beef and brown stirring well.
  • Remove from heat, rinse with hot water and drain water and grease from beef.
  • Return beef to the pan and add spice mix.
  • Add 3/4 - 1 cup water to ground beef and seasoning and simmer on medium low temperature for 20 minutes.
  • Simmer until most of moisture has cooked away.
  • Remove from heat when moisture in meat as dissipated but meat is not dry.
  • Assembling the taco.
  • You can refresh the taco shells by placing them in a baking dish into a hot oven, 350 degrees for 7-10 minutes.
  • To assemble tacos add a couple of tablespoons of ground meat, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream if desired.

2 1/2 cups Copycat Taco Bell Seasoned Beef for taco meat
1 (6 ounce) can cooking spray
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 (7 1/4 ounce) boxes macaroni & cheese dinner mix
1 (4 1/2 ounce) box Taco Bell home originals taco dinner kit
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1/2 teaspoon fine salt
1/4 teaspoon msg, purchased as Accent flavor enhancer
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
2 cups tomatoes, seeded and chopped
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Make Copycat Taco Bell Seasoned Beef, reserve 2 1/2 cups, set aside.
  • Heat oven to 350°F Place two baking racks over rimmed baking sheets; spray generously with cooking spray. Using aluminum foil, roll 12 1/2- inch balls. Stir together melted butter and sugar until well combined.Remove "cheese powder" packets from macaroni and cheese boxes. Save pasta for a later date. Remove "taco seasoning mix" packet from Taco Dinner kit, set kit aside for later.
  • In a shallow rimmed dish, stir together both packets of "cheese powder", "taco seasoning mix", paprika, salt, Accent, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  • On prepared baking sheets, arrange taco shells, (12) spacing out evenly. Working one at a time, holding the shell from the inside, brush both both sides with butter mixture. Dip buttered shell into cheese powder mix on both sides, pressing gently to adhere. Spray both sides of dipped shell with cooking spray and place back on baking rack. Repeat with remaining shells.
  • Fit prepared aluminum foil balls into the "mouths" of the taco shells; this will help keep the shells in shape while they bake. Bake for 3 to 5 minutes, until shells are warmed. Allow to cool on racks fully, remove foil balls.
  • Dividing evenly, Fill Copycat Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos Supreme Shells with Copycat Taco Bell Seasoned Beef, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, and sour cream. Serve immediately.

1 lb ground beef
4 tablespoons flour
3 teaspoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon dried onion flakes
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 dashes garlic powder
2 dashes onion powder
4 tablespoons water
1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
10 (6 inch) flour tortillas
10 taco shells
1 (8 ounce) package cheddar cheese, shredded
2 cups lettuce, shredded
4 tomatoes, chopped
1 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 200°F Place corn taco shells on pan and crisp in oven for 15-20 minutes while cooking meat.
  • Combine all ingredients up to and including the water and knead to blend well.
  • In a large frying pan or wok, saute meat for 5-7 minutes, breaking it up into fine pieces with a spatula.
  • Heat the refried beans in a microwave for several minutes. They should be hot and creamy in consistency.
  • Place 2-4 flour tortillas on microwaveable plate. Cover tortillas with plastic wrap. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute Repeat as needed.

Who doesn't love an authentic Taco Bell Taco? Ever try and make them at home only to end up with a meat substance that resembles NOTHING of Taco Bell's? Well.. this recipe is the closest I have come, and I never get complaints ;)

1 lb lean ground beef
1 (250 ml) can low-fat refried beans (we use mild)
1 (70 g) packet old el paso taco seasoning
garlic
salt
pepper
4 -6 taco shells
1 cup shredded cheese
1 cup chredded lettuce
1/2 cup sour cream (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 or 425 (for the taco shells).
  • Brown meat.
  • Add can of refried beans (we think THIS is the secret ingredient).
  • Add taco seasoning.
  • Add garlic, salt and pepper and heat until beans are heated all the way through, remove from heat.
  • Brown taco shells.
  • Prepare tacos with whatever you like.

1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried onion, minced
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 dash garlic powder
1/2 cup water
12 medium taco shells
2 cups lettuce, shredded
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • In medium bowl combine ground beef with flour, chili powder, salt, minced onion, paprika, onion powder and garlic powder. Use your hands to thoroughly mix everything.
  • Add the ground beef to water in a skillet over medium heat. Mix well with a wooden spoon or spatula and break up meat as it cooks. Heat for 5-6 minutes or until browned.
  • The finished product should be very smooth, somewhat pasty, with no large chunks of meat remaining.
  • Heat the taco shells in a 375 degree oven for 5 minutes.
  • Build each taco by spooning 2-3 tablespoons of meat into each shell and topping with lettuce and cheese.
