Easy Strawberry Jello Salad with Cool Whip image

one 6 oz box regular (not sugar free) strawberry jello, prepared according to instructions
one 8 oz container of Cool Whip
2 cups or 1 pound fresh strawberries, diced or sliced how you prefer
optional add-ins include whipped cream for topping, strawberry jam at the bottom, or mini marshmallows to mix in

Steps:

  • Boil one cup water on stove top, and mix into bowl with jello powder in mixing bowl. Add in one cup cold water and stir. Chill jello, preferably in a shallow pan, for about 45 minutes or until it is completely cool, just starting to set. Pour the jello into a large mixing bowl. Mix the jello up vigorously, for about one minute. Using an electric mixer is great for this step. But watch out it splashes. This breaks up any jello bits that have started to set, and adds air to the mix. Then fold in the Cool Whip and then strawberries. Mix completely, but be gentle and don't deflate the mix by stirring too aggressively. If you want to add in mini marshmallows, do it now. Add them in about 1/2 cup at a time to make sure you don't overdo it. Transfer to a 9×13 pan for serving, or into individual dishes if you prefer. You can top with whipped cream and sliced strawberries if you prefer. If you want to dress up this dish, spread a spoonful of strawberry jam in the bottom of a glass dessert dish or shallow glass. Then add the salad mix. After the dish has chilled, dollop with some fresh whipped cream and a slice of strawberry.

1 1/2 cups hot water
1 (6 ounce) package sugar-free strawberry gelatin
1 (20 ounce) package frozen strawberries (sliced or whole)
1 cup crushed pineapple (no sugar added)
3 -4 bananas, sliced
1 cup walnuts, chopped
16 ounces fat free sour cream

Steps:

  • Dissolve jello in the hot water.
  • Fold in strawberries, crushed pineapple, banana slices and walnuts and stir to mix.
  • Pour 1/2 of the mixture into a 12" x 8" dish and refrigerate until firmly set.
  • set the other 1/2 aside at room temperature.
  • When refrigerated half is set gently spread with sour cream and then top with the remaining 1/2 mixture.

2 1/2 cups boiling water
2 small medium bananas, smashed
2 small medium bananas, sliced
1 (10-ounce) bag frozen strawberries, with or without sugar added

  • Combine water and jello mix until combined. Add strawberries and stir until the berries are thawed. Add mashed bananas to the jello mixture. This really is one of the BEST Jell-o Salad Recipes. This recipe came from my mother's cousin Antoinette. This recipe has been popular in her family for over 40 years. It is a delicious treat during the summer months as well as an accompanying Holiday dessert (Color goes well for Holiday dessert table). The recipe calls for real whipped cream, however I'm sure that Cool Whip could be substituted as the recipe probably pre-dates the ease of prepared whipped topping, but I do prefer the original recipe as it just makes it more traditional. Note: I use Strawberry Jello, but I'm sure any kind of berry or cherry flavor would work well too... I also use food processor chopper for preparing the bananas & cherries - I use whisk attachment on electric mixer for preparing the set jello & whipping the cream.

1 box strawberry banana jello ( large box or two small) may be sugar free if so desired
1 can(s) crushed pineapple (drained)
4 bananas mashed
1 box frozen sliced strawberries ( do not thaw) may use fresh strawberries but the set up time will be longer
1 pt whipped topping or more if desired
1 pt imo imitation sour cream, or real sour cream which will be a bit more runny so i always use the imo it's firmer texture is better in this receipe
1 c finely chopped walnuts or pecans ( optional)

  • 1. Heat jello water according to directions adding jello powder and disolving. DONOT add cold water to heated mixture as direction tell you to. The frozen strawberries added make up for this. Add all ingredients to jello remembering to drain pineapple. The nuts are optional but are very good in this. DONOT add whipped topping and IMO/sour cream. Put 1/2 Jello mixture in a pretty clear bowl and put in fridge to set. Leave remaining out until the one in fridge is set up. I then mix 1/2 whipped topping with 1/2 IMO this makes a cream cheese tasting mixture that you spread on top set jello. ( for holidays I color this topping green or red) Place unset jello on top the spread on topping mixture. Then return to fridge until set. Complete by topjping off with either plain whipped topping or the remaining mixture of IMO and Topping. I then sprinkle nuts on top for a pretty look.

I think the original name of this salad is Strawberry Sour Cream Salad, but since she omits sour cream most of the time, we usually just call it Strawberry Salad.

2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert (or one large pkg)
2 cups boiling water
1 (10 ounce) package frozen sliced strawberries in syrup, thawed, drained (reserve liquid)

3 medium bananas, sliced
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
1 pint sour cream (optional)
