Number Of Ingredients 7

6 ounce(s) cold water
1 - whole cardamom pod, or 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
1 - whole clove, or 1/16 teaspoon ground clove
1/2 - stick cinnamon
2 - drops, pure vanilla extract
2 teaspoon(s) sugar
2 teaspoon(s) powdered coffee grounds

Steps:

  • In an 8 oz Ibrik, combine the water, spices and vanilla extract. Stir.
  • Add the sugar and coffee. Do not stir.
  • Bring the liquid to a near-boil over medium heat.
  • When the foam rises into the neck of the ibrik, remove it from heat. Watch it closely and do not allow it to boil. Allow the foam to settle.
  • Return the pot to the stove and repeat several times, until the foam is thick. Distribute the foam evenly among your demitasse cups.
  • Allow the coffee grounds to settle in the ibrik for about a minute. Pour the coffee into the cups, taking care to leave the grounds, spices and sludge in the pot.
  • Serve immediately.
