This is a favorite recipe with everyone. Great for weddings or any special celebration or just a wonderful dessert. Best if made the day before eating!

1/2 c sugar
1/2 stick butter
1 egg, yolk and white seperated
1/2 c drained crushed pineapple
1/2 c chopped nuts
vanilla wafers
coconut

Steps:

  • 1. Cream butter, sugar and egg yolk together.
  • 2. Add pineapple and chopped nuts
  • 3. Beat egg white stiffly and fold into mixture.
  • 4. Spread mixture between vanilla wafers using 4 wafers for each snowball.
  • 5. To serve,cover each with whipped cream and roll in coconut.
  • 6. Leave
  • 7. in refrigerator overnight.
  • 8. One package of coconut and 1/2 pint whipping cream equals 1 dozen

4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese, softened
1-3/4 cups milk, divided
1 pkg. (3.4 oz.) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (about 3 cups), thawed
1 cup JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows

Steps:

  • Beat Neufchatel and 2 Tbsp. milk in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gradually beat in remaining milk.
  • Add dry pudding mix; beat 2 min. Fold in COOL WHIP and marshmallows.
  • Scoop into 12 mounds on parchment-covered baking sheet, using about 1/2 cup COOL WHIP mixture for each mound.
  • Freeze 1 hr.

This very simple dessert had been served at the famous Chasen's Restaurant which closed in 1995. The recipe is from the Los Angeles Public Library, Archive of Old Menus.

1 pint vanilla ice cream
4 tablespoons shredded coconut, toasted
1/2 cup chocolate syrup, hershey's
4 teaspoons anisette

Steps:

  • Place a scoop of ice cream in each of four dishes.
  • Sprinkle each with toasted coconut.
  • Serve with hershey's chocolate syrup on the side, let each guest spoon on their own syrup.
  • For the Coupe Alexander, anisette is substituted for the chocolate syrup, drizzle 1 teaspoon of liqueur over each serving.
