Time 10h40m

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 - 2.5 kg Free Farmed Pork Shoulder, skin & fat removed.
3 1/2 teaspoons Cajun Spice mix, I used Countdown own brand
2 teaspoons Paprika
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
1 teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 more Tablespoon Olive Oil
120 grams Butter
6 gloves of garlic, crushed or finely diced
3/4 Cup Runny Honey, 265 grams
1/4 Cup Cider Vinegar, 62.5 mls
1/4 Cup of Chicken Stock, 62.5 mls
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
3 teaspoons Cornflour

Steps:

  • Set up your slow cooker
  • Prepare your pork shoulder by removing the skin and fat layer as best you can
  • Place the roast in a large dish
  • Combine the spice rub ingredients of cajun spice mix, paprika, salt and pepper
  • Drizzle over the olive oil and rub into the meat with your hands on all sides
  • Pour over the spice rub and massage this into all sides of the meat until fully covered
  • In a frying pan add the second measure of olive oil and once heated add the pork roast and begin to sear the outside of the pork, turning to ensure each side is browned but not burnt to lock in the flavour of the spices.
  • Remove and place pork into the slow cooker bowl
  • Clean out your frying pan or wipe with a paper towel and add the butter and melt on a medium heat
  • Once the butter has melted add the crushed garlic and cook for a minute until it begins to go golden brown and aromatic.
  • Then add the honey, cider vinegar, chicken stock, salt and pepper, mix with a whisk to combine.
  • Bring this mixture to the boil, and once boiling allow this to simmer for 1 minute
  • Carefully pour this mixture over the pork shoulder
  • Cover and cook on low for 10 hours, until the pork is tender, or until the pork shoulder reaches 65C internal temp, turning once during cooking
  • Once cooked remove the pork roast from the slow cooker and cover in foil to rest
  • Drain the juices through a sieve into a frying pan.
  • In a small cup add the cornflour and a few tablespoons of the juices and mix well
  • Pour this back into the frying pan and bring the mixture to the boil
  • Continue to boil for at least six minutes until the mixture thickens, it can take longer, you ideally want it near runny honey texture, it will also thicken upon standing
  • Remove the gravy from the heat and transfer to a pouring jug
  • Serve thick slices of the Roast pork with sides of your choice, and smother in lashings of the gravy sauce
  • Enjoy!

SLOW COOKER PARMESAN HONEY PORK ROAST

Slow Cooker Parmesan Honey Pork Roast image

It's hard to make slow-cooked food look pretty, and this pork seriously fell apart when I tried to take it out of the slow cooker, so don't judge this by its picture. I promise that this recipe is delicious! My husband even said that this is one of his favorite Sunday dinners. I also made mashed potatoes and the gravy was delicious on them. Use roast between 2 to 3 pounds.

cooking spray
1 (3 pound) boneless pork roast
⅔ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup honey
3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons dried basil
2 tablespoons minced garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • Whisk Parmesan cheese, honey, soy sauce, basil, garlic, oil, and salt together in a small bowl; pour over the pork roast.

SLOW-ROASTED HONEY GLAZED PORK RECIPE BY TASTY

Slow-roasted Honey Glazed Pork Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: soy sauce, granulated sugar, garlic, scallions, boneless, skin-on pork shoulder, asparagus, yukon potatoes, olive oil, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, dark brown sugar, honey

Provided by Tasty

Categories     Dinner

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup soy sauce, plus 2 tbsp, divided
¼ cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons garlic, chopped
¼ cup scallions, chopped
2 lb boneless, skin-on pork shoulder
1 bunch asparagus, halved
6 yukon potatoes, diced
2 tablespoons olive oil
kosher salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 cup dark brown sugar
½ cup honey

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine 1 cup (240 ml) of the soy sauce with the sugar, garlic, and scallions, stirring until mixed.
  • Score the skin of the pork by slicing a crosshatch pattern through the skin down to the meat. This will help excess fat render out and allow more of the marinade to soak in.
  • Place the pork in the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Marinate for one hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 275ºF (140°C).
  • On a baking sheet, place the asparagus halves to the right and diced potatoes to the left. Toss the vegetables with the oil, salt, and pepper. Place the marinated pork in the middle of the baking sheet.
  • Bake 1 to 1 ½ hours, depending on the weight of the pork.
  • Raise the heat of the oven to 500ºF (260ºC).
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, honey, and remaining soy sauce, stirring until smooth.
  • Spoon the honey glaze over the top of the pork, making sure to fill the cracks and crevices on top.
  • Bake for 20 minutes until sugar is dark brown and caramelized, and the top of the pork is crispy.
  • Remove the vegetables and pork from the tray, making sure to save all the juices.
  • Slice the pork into ½-inch (2 ½ cm) slices, and plate with the roasted vegetables. Spoon the reserved pan juices on top of the pork.
  • Enjoy!

1 cup diced onion
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup chicken broth
¼ cup fresh lemon juice

OVEN ROASTED PORK SHOULDER RECIPE

Oven Roasted Pork Shoulder Recipe image

Wonderfully savory and perfectly tender, our oven roasted pork shoulder recipe will make the best family dinner! You can make this slow roasted pork shoulder with tasty spices and seasonings, you'll be dying to eat by the time it is done roasting.

Provided by Maria Kendall

Categories     Main Course

Time 6h40m

Number Of Ingredients 14

4-6 pound boneless pork shoulder roast ((could also use bone-in))
2 Tablespoons minced garlic
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
½ Tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
3 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
2 cups chicken broth (more if needed)
2 Tablespoons liquid smoke
1 onion ( sliced)
2 carrots (sliced)
2 celery stalks (sliced)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • In a small bowl, combine garlic, soy sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, olive oil, and mustard.
  • Rub seasoning mixture on all sides of the pork roast.
  • Place a rack inside a roasting pan and place roast covered in rub on top of the rack.
  • Cook uncovered roast in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top starts to slightly brown.
  • Remove roast from oven and lower heat to 240 degrees.
  • Pour chicken broth and liquid smoke over roast and add vegetables on top and around roast.
  • Make a tent out of aluminum foil to put over the roast and return to the oven. Let the pork cook for 2 hours uninterrupted, but then start checking every hour or so and baste the roast with liquids from the bottom of the pan. Add more chicken broth to the pan if needed (you want liquid in the bottom the whole time so that the roast doesn't dry out).
  • The cook time will vary based on the size of your roast and your oven, so that's why it's recommended to start checking and basting your roast hourly. As a guideline, here are some cooking times:4 lb roast: 3.5 - 5 hours5 lb roast: 4 - 5.5 hours6 lb roast: 4.5 - 6 hoursThe roast is done cooking when the internal temperature somewhere between 175-180 degrees.
  • Remove the roast from the oven, but keep the aluminum foil tent on top and let the roast rest for 15-20 minutes.
  • Slice or shred the pork (it should almost be falling apart at this point) and then drizzle with some of the pan juices.
  • We love to serve it with some type of potatoes, corn bread casserole, and a vegetable. Enjoy!
