I got this recipe from a minister's wife, and I imagine she used it many times at church meetings and gatherings. It is an inexpensive, "stick-to-the-ribs" dinner, and is even better the next day! It's also extremely easy to make.

- In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. , In a 3-qt. baking dish, combine beef mixture with the remaining ingredients. Cover and bake at 350° for about 1 hour or until rice and potatoes are tender.

Steps:
- Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until browned. Drain grease, and transfer beef to a slow cooker. Mix in the tomato soups (undiluted), onions, potatoes, and beans.
- Cover, and cook on the Low setting for 4 to 5 hours, until stew is thick and potatoes are tender.

- In a large pot, cook and crumble the ground beef over medium high heat, until no longer pink. Drain, if necessary. Layer in order: the potatoes, onions, celery, kidney beans, corn and tomatoes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Cook on medium-high heat until the stew starts to come to a boil then reduce the heat to medium-low. Let simmer until all vegetables are tender, about 45 minutes. Cook covered and stir occasionally.
