I always made this for my children's birthday parties and now I make it for my grandchildren. It is beautiful, refreshing and it is loved by all. It has become a tradition for special occasions in our family. It is one of my favorites from "Angels and Friends" cookbook.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 - 3oz.pkg.ea. lime,orange,lemon and cherry jello
1 1/2 cup(s) water to ea.pkg. of jello
2 cup(s) milk
2 package(s) envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup(s) cold water
1 pint(s) sour cream
1 cup(s) granulated sugar
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Soften gelatin in 1/2C.cold water. Bring milk to boil, add sugar and dissolve; add softened gelatin and cool slightly. Add sour cream and vanilla and beat with mixer on low. Set aside to cool but keep at room temperature.
  • In four seperate containers dissolve each package jello in 1cup hot water then 1/2 cold water. Spray with no-stick your 9X13 glass dish. Pour in lime jello - refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Follow with approx. 1 1/2 Cups of cream mixture-spread evenly and refrig. until very firm (1 hour) Continue with remaining jello and cream mixture ending with cherry jello on top. Make very certain each layer is completely firm before adding each layer. Refrigerate at least 6 hours before cutting.

I usually make this bacon, lettuce, onion, pea, cheese and cauliflower layered salad in a large flat bowl. There's never too much because everybody loves it! You can vary the salad by substituting green onions for red, jack cheese for the Cheddar, etc.

1 pound bacon
1 large head iceberg lettuce - rinsed, dried, and chopped
1 red onion, chopped
1 (10 ounce) package frozen green peas, thawed
10 ounces shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup chopped cauliflower
1 ¼ cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons white sugar
⅔ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Crumble and set aside.
  • In a large flat bowl, place the chopped lettuce and top with a layer of onion, peas, shredded cheese, cauliflower and bacon.
  • Prepare the dressing by whisking together the mayonnaise, sugar and Parmesan cheese. Drizzle over salad and refrigerate until chilled.

Seven Layer Salad is crunchy, flavorful, colorful, and perfect for potlucks. With bacon, cheese, onions, peas, lettuce, celery, mayo, and a little sugar.

1 pound bacon
6 cups iceberg lettuce (, chopped)
1 red onion (, chopped)
12 ounces frozen green peas (, thawed)
3 stalks celery (, chopped)
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese (, shredded)
1 1/4 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons white sugar

Steps:

  • Add bacon to a large skillet and cook until brown and crispy, then remove to a paper towel-lined plate.
  • Let cool then chop.
  • Layer the salad with lettuce, then onion, peas, and celery.
  • Mix the mayonnaise and sugar and spread it over the celery, then top with cheese and bacon.
  • Refrigerate until serving.

1 package (3 ounces) cherry gelatin
4 cups boiling water, divided
2-1/2 cups cold water, divided
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
2 cups sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 package (3 ounces) lemon gelatin
1 package (3 ounces) orange gelatin
1 package (3 ounces) lime gelatin

Steps:

  • In a bowl, dissolve cherry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Add 1/2 cup cold water; stir. Pour into a 13-in. x 9-in. dish coated with cooking spray; refrigerate until set but not firm, about 30 minutes., In a small saucepan, sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water. Let stand for 1 minute. Stir in milk and sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until gelatin and sugar are dissolved. , Remove from the heat. Whisk in sour cream and vanilla until smooth. Spoon 1-2/3 cups creamy gelatin mixture over the first flavored layer. Chill until set but not firm. Prepare remaining flavored gelatin as directed for cherry gelatin. Alternately layer flavored gelatins with creamy gelatin layers, allowing each to set before adding next layer. Top with lime gelatin. Refrigerate overnight. Cut into squares.

4-1/2 cups boiling water, divided
7 packages (3 ounces each) assorted flavored gelatin
4-1/2 cups cold water, divided
1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk, divided
1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
Optional: Sliced strawberries and kiwifruit

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, add 3/4 cup boiling water to 1 gelatin package; stir 2 minutes to completely dissolve. Stir in 3/4 cup cold water. Pour into a 3-qt. trifle or glass bowl. Refrigerate until set but not firm, about 40 minutes., In a clean bowl, dissolve another gelatin package into 1/2 cup boiling water. Stir in 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup milk. Spoon over the first layer. Refrigerate until set but not firm., Repeat 5 times, alternating plain and creamy gelatin layers.
