This recipe is from the Fall 2004 issue of the Kraft 'food&family' magazine. It makes for a great tasting pork main dish! The original recipe calls for Kraft Sweet Recipes Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce.

3 lbs pork loin roast
2 onions, sliced
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup apple juice
2 tablespoons dried thyme leaves
6 apples, sliced
1/2 cup dried pitted prunes

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Brown the pork roast and onions in hot oil in a large ovenproof pot on medium-high heat for 3 minutes, turning occasionally.
  • Combine the barbecue sauce, apple juice and thyme.
  • Pour sauce mixture over the pork and onions.
  • Cover with an ovenproof lid; simmer another 10 minutes before placing the pot in the oven.
  • Bake for 2 hours.
  • Add apples and prunes; bake an additional 30 minutes or until the pork is cooked through and the apples are tender.

3 Tbsp. oil
1 boneless pork loin roast (3 lb.)
2 onion s, sliced
1/2 cup KRAFT Sweet Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce
1/4 cup apple juice
2 Tbsp. dried thyme leaves
6 Granny Smith apple s, sliced
1/2 cup pitted prunes

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Heat oil in large ovenproof Dutch oven or large deep skillet on medium-high heat. Add meat and onions; cook 3 min. or until evenly browned on all sides, turning meat as needed and stirring onions occasionally.
  • Mix barbecue sauce, apple juice and thyme until blended; pour over ingredients in pan. Cover with lid; simmer on medium-low heat 10 min. Transfer to oven.
  • Bake 1-1/2 hours or until meat is done (145ºF), adding apples and prunes to the pan after 1 hour. Remove from oven. Let meat stand 3 min. before slicing to serve with the fruit mixture.
