This cake makes men drool and women fight over the last piece! I think it's the peanut butter in the icing!

½ cup margarine
½ cup vegetable oil
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup water
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups white sugar
½ cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ cup margarine
4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
5 tablespoons milk
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1 cup crunchy peanut butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
  • In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup margarine, oil, 4 tablespoons cocoa and water. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring often. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour and sugar. Make a well in the center, and pour in the cocoa mixture. Stir until smooth. Mix in the buttermilk, 2 teaspoons vanilla, cinnamon, baking soda and eggs.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool slightly before frosting.
  • For the Frosting: In a large saucepan, combine 1/2 cup margarine, 4 tablespoons cocoa and 5 tablespoons milk. Bring to a boil, stirring often. Remove from heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar, peanut butter and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla. Beat until the icing is blended. Pour over warm cake.

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup baking cocoa
2 cups boiling water
3 cups packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 can (16 ounces) or 2 cups chocolate frosting

Steps:

  • Place the butter, oats and cocoa in a large bowl; add boiling water and stir until butter is melted. Stir in brown sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually add to oat mixture just until combined., Pour into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan. Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack. , Frost with chocolate frosting.
