"These fudgy brownies are easy to make and travel well," writes Janet Taylor from Mayville, New York. "If you bake them in a disposable foil pan for camping or taking someplace else away from home, you won't have to worry about getting your baking pan back."

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 cup butter
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup sugar
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar, optional

Steps:

  • In a microwave, melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Cool. Transfer to a large bowl. Stir in the eggs, sugar, flour, nuts, baking powder and vanilla., Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350° for 16-20 minutes or until top is set. Cool on a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired.

Sister Sharon's Saucepan brownies. I miss her and her cooking, her holiday meals and her just because meals. This is an easy recipe and all done in a sauce pan to mix it up.

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 c butter
3/4 c cocoa, unsweetened
2-1/4 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp salt
3 large eggs
1-1/4 c all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 c chopped nuts ( i use walnuts)
12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350 Degrees. Lightly grease a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Stir in cocoa; blend until smooth. remove from heat and cool slightly. Add sugar, vanilla, salt, and eggs. Beat thoroughly. Add flour and baking powder. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Batter will be stiff. Spread it evenly in prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes or until top is dry and and brownies just begin to pull away from sides of the pan. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cool and cut into 36 brownies.

Been making this recipe since I was a teenager, it is very easy and tastes a million times better than a mix! These are not cake style brownies, they are very moist and gooey, chewy, chocolaty and delicious! Pecans are my favorite but you can use any kind of nuts you like, macadamia nuts are wonderful in these too.

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 dash salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 350.
  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan.
  • Remove from heat and stir in sugar and cocoa.
  • Stir in the eggs, one at a time, and vanilla till just combined.
  • Add flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Fold in the nuts.
  • Pour into a greased 8x8x2-inch baking pan.
  • Bake in oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Do not over bake.
  • Cool in pan on a wire rack.

Yield Makes 16 to 25 brownies

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter
4 ounces (4 squares) unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1 3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon kosher or fine sea salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 scant cup walnuts, broken into large pieces, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F, and position a rack in the middle of the oven.
  • 2. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Turn off the heat, add the chocolate, and stir occasionally until melted and combined. Set aside and cool slightly.
  • 3. Stir the sugar and salt into the warm chocolate mixture, using a wooden spoon. Add the vanilla and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the flour until just incorporated. Fold in the nuts, if using. Pour the mixture into an 8x8-inch nonstick baking pan, and smooth the surface using your hands. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, until the center is firm. Cool completely. When ready to serve, remove the brownies from the pan and cut into 1 1/2- to 2-inch squares, or larger if you like.
  • If you don't have a pan with a nonstick coating, line a pan with parchment paper or foil to make sure the brownies come out easily.

  • 2. Melt butter over low heat.
  • 3. Turn off heat, add chocolate and stir occasionally until melted and combined. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • 4. Stir in sugar and salt.
  • 5. Add vanilla and eggs, one at time, mixing well after each addition.
  • 6. Stir in the flour until just incorporated.
  • 7. Fold in nuts.

This recipe is from my Mom. Back in the day, she never bought boxed brownie mix, she always kept the ingredients for these on hand. They are still one of my favorites to bake up for dessert or special occasions. This doubles well too! Enjoy!

1/2 c shortening
2 oz (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 c sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c sifted all purpose flour
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 c nuts, chopped (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease an 8x8 pan.
  • 2. In a heavy saucepan, melt chocolate and shortening over low heat, stirring constantly. When melted, remove from heat and let cool 10 minutes.
  • 3. In the same saucepan, beat in vanilla and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and beat well in-between.
  • 4. Sift flour and salt and add to pan. Mix well. If adding nuts do it at this time.
  • 5. Turn into greased 8X8 pan. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes.
  • 6. NOTE: If you don't have the unsweetened chocolate squares, you can substitute 3-4 T cocoa and 1 TBSP shortening instead of the 2 squares.

1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
1/2 cup(s) chopped nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 325. Grease 9 inch square baking pan. In medium saucepan over low heat, cook sugar, butter, and water, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to boil. Remove from heat; immediately add 1 cup chocolate chips, stirring until chips are melted. Stir in eggs and vanilla until blended.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, and salt; stir into chocolate mixture. Stir in remaining 1 cup chips and nuts, if desired. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely. Cut into bars.
