3 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces, or to taste
½ cup diced onion, or to taste
1 ½ pounds fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
1 cup water
1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Place bacon in the bottom of a pressure cooker and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 8 minutes. Add onions; saute for 1 minute. Add green beans; toss until coated in bacon grease. Add water.
  • Close cooker securely and place pressure regulator over vent according to manufacturer's instructions. Heat until steam escapes in a steady flow, about 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 5 minutes. Let pressure release naturally according to manufacturer's instructions, 5 to 10 minutes. Unlock lid and remove. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Fresh Green Beans - Pressure Cooker image

Fresh green beans are a summer garden favorite. For a Southern cook like myself, they can take hours to simmer to perfection. Voila'...the pressure cooker! Gets them perfect in minutes! This works with beans frozen from your garden, too.

GREEN BEANS AND BACON IN THE PRESSURE COOKER

Green beans and bacon in the pressure cooker image

Green beans are ready to be picked out in the garden. This is already the 2nd time they have been picked..What I love about making this is that you can make a large pot or small and do not have to adjust the time..I usually cook these in a pot on the stove for a few hours but the Electric pressure cooker cuts the time down so...

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 4

8 c more or less of fresh green beans
1/2 lb more or less of thick sliced bacon
1/8 c sugar, more or less to taste
salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Wash, clean, snap green beans. Add green beans to your pot that comes with your electric pressure cooker and add enough water to just cover your green beans. I have made a full pot and half the pot and it takes the same amount of time.
  • 2. Shut lid and set timer for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, chopped bacon and brown in a small frypan.
  • 3. Brown bacon till crispy and set aside until the 5 min are up on the green beans.
  • 4. Release pressure and add all the bacon, grease too and the sugar. Stir and close lid and set timer for another 5 min.
  • 5. Let beans set in pressure cooker until dinner (keep warm setting) and salt and pepper to taste before you serve them..
