Iced black tea with accented with pineapple juice shows off its Hawaiian roots and makes a refreshing party drink.

1 quart boiling water (make sure it is only barely boiling)
4 orange pekoe tea bags
1 quart ice cold water
1 (16 ounce) can pineapple juice
1/2 cup simple syrup (optional)
1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into spears

Steps:

  • Pour the barely boiling hot water into a large pitcher, and add the tea bags. Steep the tea 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Remove the tea bags, and pour in the ice water.
  • Pour in the pineapple juice.
  • Refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, about 1 1/2 hours.
  • Pour the tea over ice, garnish with pineapple spears, and serve.

7 tea bags
12 mint leaves
1/2 cup sugar
1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
1 (12 ounce) can pineapple juice

Steps:

  • Pour 4 cups boiling water over the tea bags, mint, and sugar in a pitcher. Steep for 30 minutes. Remove the tea bags, squeezing out excess liquid. Remove the mint.
  • Prepare the lemonade according to the instructions and add to the tea.
  • Add the pineapple juice and stir. Serve over ice.

12 mint leaves (optional)
1/2 cup sugar (or 3/4 cup Splenda)
1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, prepared according to directions on the can
1 (12 ounce) can pineapple juice

Steps:

  • Pour 4 cups boiling water over tea bags, mint, and sugar in a pitcher.
  • Steep for 30 minutes.
  • Remove tea bags and mint.
  • Add prepared lemonade to tea.
  • Add pineapple juice and stir.

When I was a kid in Ohio, my mother kept mint growing under a dripping hose bib. On those icky, sticky, hot and humid summer days, I fondly remember cold glasses of this refreshing iced tea with its hint of mint, orange and lemon juices.

4 tea bags
4 sprigs of fresh mint
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
water
ice

Steps:

  • Put 1 quart water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  • Turn off heat and steep tea bags and mint in hot water for 15 minutes or more.
  • Remove tea bags and mint and discard.
  • Add sugar, stirring to dissolve.
  • Add orange and lemon juices.
  • Add enough water/ ice to make 4 quarts.
