CINNAMON ORANGE CREAM CHEESE COOKIES

Cinnamon Orange Cream Cheese Cookies image

I love orange and cinnamon together! Yum. You really don't need to chill these for as much time as the recipe calls for. 1 hour would be plenty. I chilled my dough overnight and had to wait for the dough to warm a little before it was able to be rolled out. Cut your cookies small. They do not spread as they cook. Nice shortbread-like cookie. Not too sweet and excellent with a cup of tea or hot chocolate. I double the zest and spices - it gives the cookies freckles. :)

ORANGE AND CINNAMON COOKIES

ORANGE AND CINNAMON COOKIES image

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 orange
200 gr. butter
350 gr. self-rising flour
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1 egg
100 gr. sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven up to 160 degrees Celcius and grease a baking sheet. Mix the self-rising flour and the cinnamon. Add the butter and mix until you have a crumbly dough. Scrub the orange and grate two teaspoons of zest. Beat the egg and add the egg, sugar and zest to the dough. Knead with a cool hand until you have a cohesive dough. Roll out the dough into a piece of about 0,5 centimeter thickness. Use a baking form or a glass to make little circles and place those on the baking sheet. Place into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown. (If you'd like, you could use the juice from the orange to make some glace, by mixing 3 tablespoons of juice, about 250 gr. powdered sugar and a half teaspoon cinnamon. Spread on the cookies.) Bon Appetit!
