ENGLISH MUFFIN HORS D'OEUVRES



English Muffin Hors d'Oeuvres image

My mom makes this every year for Christmas. They are amazing and go fast so make plenty.

1 ¼ cups mayonnaise
1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
6 green onions, chopped
1 pinch salt
1 pinch garlic salt
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 (12 ounce) package English muffin, split

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven's broiler and set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
  • Mix the mayonnaise, Cheddar cheese, green onions, salt, garlic salt, and pepper in a bowl. Spread the cheese mixture over each English muffin half. Cut the muffins into quarters and place on a baking sheet.
  • Broil in the preheated oven until cheese is bubbly, 4 to 6 minutes.

OLD ENGLISH CHEESE HORS D'OEUVRES

One of my favorite appetizers....and what a wonderful aroma while they are baking. They disappear from any party!

2 (5 ounce) jars Kraft Old English cheese spread (Kraft)
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon beau monde spice
3/4 teaspoon dill weed
3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 loaf very thin sliced white bread (just thin-sliced sandwich bread will work)

Steps:

  • Cream together all ingredients except bread.
  • Cut crusts from 27 slices of bread.
  • Spread three slices with the cheese mixture.
  • Placing on large cookie sheet or jelly roll pan, stack the three slices; then spread tops and sides of stack with more cheese.
  • (Spread the sides kind of thin).
  • Repeat with remaining bread.
  • Place tray in freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove, and carefully cut each stack into 9 squares.
  • You can then freeze by placing squares in a large ziploc freezer bag, or, Bake at 350 for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Coach Farm Marinated Goat-Cheese Hors D'oeuvres image

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns
1/4 teaspoon white peppercorns
1 teaspoon coriander seeds
3 plain goat cheese buttons (small rounds, about 2 ounces each), halved horizontally
1 to 1 1/4 cups extra-virgin olive oil
2 bay leaves
6 thin slices French bread, toasted lightly
6 sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil

Steps:

  • With a mortar and pestle, or by hand, crush thyme and rosemary. Transfer herbs to a small bowl and stir in peppercorns and coriander seeds.
  • In a 1-pint jar carefully place 3 cheese halves and sprinkle with half of herb mixture. Add remaining cheese and sprinkle with remaining herb mixture. Add enough oil to cover cheese completely and slide bay leaves down opposite sides of jar. Cover jar tightly and chill, covered, 4 days.
  • Let mixture come just to room temperature and preheat broiler.
  • Top each bread slice with a tomato and a marinated cheese half and arrange on a baking sheet. Broil about 4 inches from heat until cheese is golden, about 3 minutes.

1 can baby shrimp or 1 can crabmeat
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt

Steps:

  • Cream butter and cheese together.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients.
  • Drain shrimp or crabmeat.
  • Add to mixture.
  • Spread on muffins and broil until brown.
  • Watch out, they can burn!

1 loaf day-old white bread, unsliced
1/4 lb sharp cheddar cheese
3 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Steps:

  • Trim crust and cut bread into 1-inch cubes.
  • Melt cheeses and butter in top of double boiler. Remove from heat, cool slightly, and add the egg whites.
  • With a fork, dip each bread cube in cheese mixture until well coated. Place on baking sheet, chill overnight or freeze.
  • Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-15 minutes until light brown and puffed.
  • Serve hot.
