Betty Crocker™ Supreme original brownies made with old-fashioned oats and drizzled with Betty Crocker™ cookie icing are the perfect on the run snack.

1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Supreme original brownie mix
Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
1 cup old-fashioned oats
Betty Crocker™ white cookie icing (from 7-oz pouch)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom of 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray
  • Make brownie batter as directed on box. Stir in oats until blended. Spread in pan.
  • Bake 22 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 1 1/2 hours. Cut into 6 rows by 3 rows.
  • Squeeze cookie icing over brownies in zigzag pattern.

1/3 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup sugar blend
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
FROSTING:
1/3 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1/4 cup fat-free milk
2 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, sugar and sugar blend until well blended. Beat in the eggs, buttermilk, applesauce and vanilla. Combine the flour, oats, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually add to butter mixture and mix well. Beat in walnuts., Spread batter into a 15x10x1-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack., For frosting, in a small saucepan, melt butter. Whisk in cocoa and milk until blended. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat; whisk in confectioners' sugar until smooth. Immediately spread over bars. Let stand until frosting is set. Cut into squares.

3/4 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1/4 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
FROSTING:
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup fat-free milk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
5 tablespoons butter, cubed

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, oats, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Beat in walnuts., Spread batter into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 18-24 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack., For frosting, in a small saucepan, combine sugar and milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook and stir for 30-60 seconds or until sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat; stir in chocolate chips and butter until smooth. Immediately spread over bars. Let stand until frosting is set. Cut into squares.
