1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1 1/2 cups M&M's® chocolate candies
1 cup raisins
1 cup cocktail peanuts

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Line 2 cookie sheets with cooking parchment paper. In large bowl, beat butter, shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and eggs. On low speed, beat in flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda until blended. Stir in oats, candies, raisins and peanuts.
  • Onto cookie sheets, drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake 17 to 19 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks.

"GORP" is actually an acronym that means Good Old Raisins and Peanuts. These "cookies" aim to be a cheaper on-the-go meal/snack option than something prepackaged like a Cliff Bar. This recipe is also vegan, if you groove that way.

3 cups peanut butter
3 cups rolled oats
3 cups raisins
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup flax seed meal

Steps:

  • Mix flax, water, sugar.
  • Add to oats, raisins, peanut butter.
  • Mix with hands until thick crumbly dough.
  • Press into 1/4 cup servings.
  • Store in fridge.
