1 large head cabbage (about 3 pounds), shredded
1 large onion, chopped
2 cups sugar
DRESSING:
1 cup vinegar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon celery seed

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, lightly toss cabbage, onion and sugar; refrigerate. In a saucepan, combine dressing ingredients; bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and cool for 1 hour. Pour over cabbage mixture and toss. Chill at least 1 hour before serving. Coleslaw may be stored in the refrigerator for up to 9 days.

Number Of Ingredients 19

2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 garlic clove, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
black pepper
1 cup broccoli floret (or cauliflower)
4 green pepper rings
4 red bell pepper rings
2 slices onions
1/2 cup chickpeas (or black beans)
1/2 cup carrot, sliced
1/2 cup zucchini, sliced
1/4 cup mushroom, sliced
8 cherry tomatoes
2 cups spinach
2 tablespoons slivered almonds

Steps:

  • In a 10-cup plastic container, combine vinegar through salt. Shake gently to combine.
  • Add the oil and black pepper. Cover tightly and shake vigorously to blend.
  • Ideally you'll want to set this aside for an hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Combine salad ingredients to the container. Cover and shake vigorously to coat. Serve immediately or marinate for 2-24 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Garnish with almonds to serve.

4 cups torn iceberg lettuce
4 cups fresh baby spinach
1 cup each chopped green pepper, celery and green onions
1 package (10 ounces) frozen peas, thawed and patted dry
1-1/2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup shredded Romano cheese
1 cup crumbled cooked bacon

Steps:

  • In a large salad bowl, layer the lettuce, spinach, green pepper, celery, green onions and peas. Spread with mayonnaise. Combine the cheeses; sprinkle cheeses and bacon over mayonnaise. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
