I personally think these are the best brownies in the world. Try them, I think you'll agree! To make the brownies rich and buttery, use melted butter instead of the vegetable oil.

½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
½ cup all-purpose flour
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the oil, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the egg mixture until well blended. Stir in walnuts, if desired. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the brownie begins to pull away from edges of pan. Let cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

A friend of mine in an online game passed me this recipe and it is soo good and delicious the kids ask me to make them nearly every day! I always wind up having to make a double batch otherwise they'd all be gone in a day!!

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 c oil, butter or margarine (imperial stick margarine seems to work best but let it soften!!!)
1 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 c all purpose flour
1/3 c unsweet cocoa
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat Oven 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x9 pan. I usually use the butter/margarine wrapper for this. DO NOT FLOUR THE PAN.
  • 2. Cream together oil/butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs.
  • 3. Slowly add in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt and mix til well blended and smooth.
  • 4. Spread evenly in pan and let bake for 20-25 minutes or until edges pull apart from pan. Cool on wire rack before cutting into squares.
  • 5. NOTES FOR TOASTER OVEN COOKING!! Same oven temperature of 350 degrees F BUT it takes around 40-50 minutes to finish cooking!
