Time 4m

Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 1

1 ear of corn, husk on

Steps:

  • Put the corn in the microwave: Place the corn in the microwave, do not remove the husk. Microwave the corn on the high setting for 4 minutes. Note that every microwave is different. If this timing over-cooks the corn in your microwave, reduce it to 2 to 3 minutes the next time.
  • Cut the bottom off the stem end: Use a kitchen towel or pot holder to remove corn from the microwave (it's hot!) Cut off the bottom of the corn, stem end, about one row of corn in from the stem.
  • Remove the husk: Slip off the husk and silk. That's it!

This is one of my favorite ways to fix corn on the cob, even when I have several to fix. Without the water from boiling, the corn stays nice and sweet. Hope this helps just one young cook.

KITTENCAL'S TENDER MICROWAVE CORN (WITH HUSKS ON)

Kittencal's Tender Microwave Corn (With Husks On) image

Leaving the husks on while microwaving ensures a very tender steamed corn, you might not even want butter or salt after tasting this corn! --- don't worry the silks will fall right off after cooking! For each ear increase microwaving time 3 minutes. Cooking time is for 1 ear of corn :)

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 ear of corn (do not remove the husks)
2 damp paper towels (use a double paper towel)
butter
salt

Steps:

  • Cut off the floppy silks on top of the husks (do not remove the husk).
  • To help remove the husks when cooked, cut off the bottom of the husks plus 1/4 inch of the cob. When done, the entire husk plus silk can easily be pulled off from the top.
  • Wet both papers towels and squeeze out the water then wrap each husk well with double layer of damp paper towels.
  • Place the corn/s around the outside of the turntable.
  • Microwave for 1-1/2 minutes on HIGH, turn the corn onto it's otherside and continue to cook for another 1-1/2 minutes (feel the ear to be sure they are very hot).
  • Using a towel carefully remove from microwave and let sit for 5 minutes before removing the husks and silks, the silks will slide off like magic (BE CAREFUL these are very hot!).
  • Serve with butter and salt.
