MEYER LEMON AND THYME WHISKEY SOUR



Meyer Lemon and Thyme Whiskey Sour image

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup sugar
4 tablespoons fresh thyme leaves
1 1/2 ounces bourbon
1 ounce freshly squeezed Meyer lemon juice
Lemon twist, for garnish
Thyme sprig, for garnish

Steps:

  • For the simple syrup: Combine the sugar, thyme and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and let sit for 20 minutes to infuse. Strain the syrup into a container and discard the thyme.
  • For the whiskey sour: Combine the bourbon, Meyer lemon juice and 1 1/2 ounces thyme simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well, then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist and a thyme sprig. Serve.

12 ounces whiskey (recommended: Jim Beam)
9 ounces Meyer Lemon Sweet and Sour Mix, recipe follows
1/4 cup sugar
6 slices Meyer lemon
6 maraschino cherries
4 cups Meyer lemon juice
1 cup simple syrup
2 egg whites
Pinch salt

Steps:

  • Shake the first 3 ingredients vigorously in a cocktail shaker or in a large container with a lid. Pour into glasses over ice. Garnish with slices of Meyer lemon and maraschino cherries.
  • Combine all the ingredients.
