Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 ½ lbs. lean ground beef
½ lb. pork sausage (or use additional ground beef)
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 yellow onion, diced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 (28 ounce) can whole tomatoes, NOT drained
2 cans (10.75 ounces each) condensed tomato soup, NOT diluted (I used Campbell's Healthy Request)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
8 ounces dry wide egg noodles
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 (7 ounce) jar green olives, drained (optional)
1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown beef, sausage, bell pepper, and onion in the skillet; drain. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Add tomatoes (with juice), crushing them slightly with a wooden spoon, condensed soup, brown sugar, dry mustard, and garlic powder. Simmer over very low heat for about 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain well.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a large rectangular baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  • After beef mixture has simmered for 30 minutes, stir in mushrooms and olives. Remove from heat and toss with the cooked noodles.
  • Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 20 minutes, or until heated through and bubbly.

4-INGREDIENT GROUND BEEF CASSEROLE

4-Ingredient Ground Beef Casserole image

This easy 4-ingredient ground beef casserole with a crescent roll crust is always a family favorite!

Provided by Blair Lonergan

Categories     Dinner

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (8 ounce) can Pillsbury crescent roll dough ((I like to use the Crescent Dough Sheets, which don't have any perforations))
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup salsa ((or substitute with barbecue sauce))
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
Optional garnish: sliced green onions, chopped fresh parsley, or other taco toppings like sour cream, sliced olives, avocado or guacamole, or pickled red onions

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • Spray an 11 x 7-inch baking dish with cooking spray. You can also use a 9 x 13-inch dish -- it will just yield a slightly thinner crust and beef layer. Either works well, though!
  • Unroll crescent roll dough and press into the bottom of the prepared dish to form a crust. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain any grease from the skillet.
  • Stir in 1 cup of salsa.
  • Spoon beef mixture over the crescent roll dough. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. Cut into squares and serve.

GRANDMA'S GROUND BEEF CASSEROLE

Grandma's Ground Beef Casserole image

As the title suggests, this was my Grandmother's recipe. I've tweaked the amount of cheese and sour cream depending on what I've got in the fridge and it always turns out great! My mother has suggested this was made up as a way to use up ingredients in the fridge.

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic salt
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) package egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
1 large white onion, diced
½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, or more to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Mix sugar, salt, garlic salt and tomato sauce into ground beef; simmer until flavors blend, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, cover skillet, and cool to room temperature.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 5 minutes. Drain and cool slightly.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Mix sour cream, cream cheese, and onion in a bowl.
  • Scoop half the noodles into the prepared casserole dish; top with half the sour cream mixture. Spoon half the ground beef mixture atop sour cream layer. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients. Top casserole with Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until Cheddar cheese has browned, 25 to 30 minutes.

JOHN ED'S GROUND BEEF CASSEROLE

John Ed's Ground Beef Casserole image

NOTE: This recipe has been updated! This was Elswet's Papaw's "Saturday Afternoon" recipe. He prepared it himself, often. He said it was an old Navy recipe he remembered from WWII, and it was one of his favorite dishes. It has a slight pizza taste, which makes it a favorite among kids, is very easy to assemble, and gives you hands free cooking. NOTE: This recipe has been adjusted, slightly. ;)
