1 cup margarine or 1 cup butter, divided, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour or 1 cup unbleached flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
14 ounces can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off.
  • In small bowl, cut 1/2 cup margarine into flour and sugar until crumbly.
  • Press in bottom of ungreased 13x9" pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool 10 minutes.
  • In large bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, nuts, baking powder, salt, and sweetened condensed milk; mix well. Spread over partially baked crust.
  • Return to oven and bake 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.
  • In small bowl, blend powdered sugar, remaining 1/2 cup margarine, and vanilla until creamy; spread over bars.
  • Cut into 36 bars.

1/2 c butter
1 1/2 c graham cracker crumbs
1 c baker's angel flake coconut
1 c semi-sweet mini chocloate chips
1 c pecans - chopped
1 can(s) sweetened condensed milk

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Place butter in a 13 x 9 inch pan. Place in oven to melt butter. Remove pan from oven; sprinkle crumbs over butter, pressing down with a fork.
  • 2. Sprinkle coconut over crumbs. Add a layer of chips and a layer of pecans.
  • 3. Drizzle condensed milk evenly over the top.
  • 4. Bake for 20 - 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool before cutting.

Base:
1/2 c butter - no sub.
1 c flour
1/4 c sugar
Filling:
1 c crushed graham crackers - regular
1/2 c chopped nuts - english walnuts work best
1/2 c chocolate chips
1 t salt
1 t baking powder
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
Frosting:
1/2 c butter - no sub.
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
1 t vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix base ingredients until crumbly, press into bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch pan. Bake 10 minutes - edges will be lightly browned - cook 10 minutes. Combine filling ingredients and spread over cooled base. Bake 15-18 minutes until set and lightly brown on edges - be careful not to overbake. Cool completely before frosting. Chill for easier cutting. Keep refrigerated.

How to make Jeans Bars

bCrust
3/4 cup butter shopping list
1/4 cup plus 1 Tbsp. sugar
1½ cups flour
Filling
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup walnuts
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp. baking powder
14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
Frosting
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup butter
3 oz. cr. cheese

Steps:

  • Mix crust ingredients & pat into a 9 x 13 pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
  • Filling
  • Mx filling ingredients and spread over baked crust. No need to cool the crust first.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  • Cool.
  • Frosting
  • Blend together butter and cream cheese.
  • Add vanilla and beat in powder sugar until creamy.
  • Frost bars.
  • Note:These should be stored in the fridge because of the cream cheese but taken out a little before serving. For easier cutting, cut before refridgerating.
  • Note:I think these could also be very good made with white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts instead of chocolate chips and walnuts.
