Number Of Ingredients 10

1 medium orange, halved and thinly sliced
1 medium apple, quartered and thinly sliced
1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1 bottle (32 ounces) cranberry juice
1 bottle (750 ml) zinfandel or other fruity red wine
1 cup simple syrup
1/2 cup orange liqueur
Ice cubes
GARNISHES:
Optional: Thinly sliced oranges, thinly sliced apples and fresh cranberries

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the first 7 ingredients; refrigerate overnight. Serve over ice; garnish with oranges, apples and cranberries if desired.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups water
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries, thawed
1 bottle (750 milliliters) white wine, chilled
3/4 cup frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
1 each medium orange, lime and apple, peeled and diced
1 bottle (1 liter) citrus soda, chilled

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine water and cranberries. Cook over medium heat until berries pop, about 5 minutes. Drain and discard liquid; set cranberries aside., In a pitcher, combine the wine and limeade concentrate. Stir in the diced fruit and reserved cranberries; add the soda. Serve over ice.

Number Of Ingredients 10

6 cups cranberry juice
2 cups orange juice
2 cups dry red wine
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks (about 3 inches long)
1/2-1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 pinch nutmeg
2 oranges, cut in wedges
1 lemon, cut in wedges
1 cup cranberries

Steps:

  • Heat all ingredients in a saucepan on medium low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved.
  • When liquid is hot but not boiling, remove from heat.
  • Let sit 5 minutes, then strain through a fine sieve, reserving fruit.
  • Pour liquid into mugs or heat resistant glasses, adding reserved fruit for garnish.
  • (Filled with fruit and infused with warm spices, this drink is just as comforting served without the red wine).

2 pints cranberry juice (100% juice is best)
2 pints orange juice
1 (750 ml) bottle red wine (I like Beaujolais, but any light fruity red wine will do.)
1 -2 orange, sliced (for garnish)

Steps:

  • Chill all ingredients.
  • Pour juices and wine into punch bowl.
  • Float orange slices on top.
  • Variations: You may adjust the proportions of juice to wine, depending on the strength and flavor profile of your particular wine.
  • This is also good with limes and lemons.
  • Ice cubes made of frozen juice are a nice addition, or you can freeze the citrus slices and use them to keep sangria cold.
  • This can be halved, doubled, tripled, etc. easily for any size group.

I came up with this while playing around with sangria recipes. It has now become a traditional beverage at Thanksgiving and Christmas; my family actually got upset the one time I didn't make it!

1 cup white sugar
4 cranberry-flavored tea bags
4 slices fresh lemon
6 whole cloves
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1 ½ cups water
2 (750 milliliter) bottles white wine
4 apples, cored and cut into chunks
1 ½ cups dried cranberries
2 fluid ounces apple brandy

Steps:

  • Place the sugar, tea bags, lemon slices, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and water into a saucepan, and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let mixture cool. Strain out and discard the spices, lemon, and tea bags.
  • Pour the white wine into a large jar or covered container, and mix with the tea mixture. Stir in apples and cranberries; mix in the apple brandy. Chill in refrigerator 24 to 48 hours. Serve cold.
