GINGER-ANISE TEA WITH LEMON AND HONEY

Ginger-Anise Tea With Lemon and Honey image

Got this from Middle Eastern Recipe (http://www.ummah.com/family/recipes.html). It's especially nice when you have a sore throat or generally feel cruddy, but is also delicious anytime. The ginger really comes through in a good way. Smells good too. Make sure to pour it through a fine strainer as you want to rid the tea of seeds and depending on your ginger you might get bits of ginger settling in the bottom of the cup, which makes for a very potent last sip!

Yield 1-2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup water
1 teaspoon anise seed
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • Bring all the ingredients to a boil in a small pan then let simmer for about 5 minutes. Pour through a strainer into a mug. For me this ends up making either a little more than one mug or enough for two small mugs.

LEMON TEA CAKE WITH HONEY GLAZE (LOW-FAT AND WHOLE-WHEAT)

Lemon Tea Cake With Honey Glaze (Low-Fat and Whole-Wheat) image

This luscious, lemony loaf cake goes together fast, travels well- you can pop it back in the loaf pan once it has cooled to protect it en route- and stays moist. No one will guess this moist, sweet cake with a bright citrus tang is low-fat and made entirely with whole-wheat flour. Feel free to double the recipe and freeze the second loaf for future take-along use. From the newspaper.

LAVENDER, LEMON AND HONEY TEA FROM WOLDS WAY LAVENDER FARM

Lavender, Lemon and Honey Tea from Wolds Way Lavender Farm image

A wonderful recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wold's Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England! This magical lavender farm is just down the road from my parent's house and is high on my "must visit" list when I go home to England. I have found that this tea is a miracle worker for headaches, head colds and colds in general........the soothing honey helps sore throats whilst the lemon contains essential vitamin C, and the lavender provides a calming and refreshing element to this herbal tea or tisane. Although this is mainly served hot, I have made this during the summer months as an iced tea, as it's perfect for hot, sultry days.
