1 orange
2 teaspoons whole clove
1 apple
1 teaspoon whole allspice
4 cinnamon sticks
1 gal apple cider
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon nutmeg
whiskey, or rum, optional

Steps:

  • Pierce orange with cloves. (If you have a tea infuser, tea bag or cheese cloth, you can use that to keep the spices under control).
  • Pierce apple with allspice.
  • Put the orange, apple, cinnamon sticks, apple cider, brown sugar and nutmeg into your slow cooker.
  • Turn on high for 2 hours, then keep warm on low until you're ready to drink.
  • Drink as is or with a shot (or two) of whiskey, rum, etc.
  • Enjoy!

8 cups apple cider or juice
4 cups cranberry juice
2 cups orange juice
1/2 cup sugar
3 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
1 teaspoon whole allspice
1 teaspoon whole cloves

Steps:

  • Place first four ingredients in a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker. Place spices on a double thickness of cheesecloth. Gather corners of cloth to enclose spices; tie securely with string. Add to slow cooker., Cook, covered, on low until heated through, 3-4 hours. Discard spice bag. Serve warm.

8 cups apple cider or juice
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 cinnamon sticks (3 inches)
1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Additional cinnamon sticks, optional

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine the first 6 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Discard cinnamon sticks. Use additional cinnamon sticks for stirrers if desired.

1 gal apple cider
1 apple sliced in rounds
1 orange sliced in rounds
3 cinnamon sticks
3 whole cloves
1/4 c sugar (optional)
1/4 c Captain Morgan's spiced rum (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Pour cider into a stove top pot. Turn stove on to medium.
  • 2. Add sliced apple and oranges, cinnamon sticks, clove and optional ingredients.
  • 3. Simmer for 10 minutes to get flavors to start releasing and blending.
  • 4. Turn down and keep warm. This will keep on your stove for 2-3 hours if not kept on high of heat.
  • 5. When adding the spiced rum, I only add enough to flavor the batch just a little. You can add more to your individual cups if you want.

3 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1/4 teaspoon whole allspice
2 star anise
1 bartlett pear
1 fuyu persimmon
2 apples
1 small navel orange (juiced and the peel removed)
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 ounce of brandy per drink
Whole fresh cranberries
Cinnamon sticks
Thin fruit slices cut into shapes with a small cookie cutter

Steps:

  • Add all spices to a medium/large pot and on medium heat, toast and stir spices for about 5 minutes, or until fragrant.
  • Take pot off the heat and add chopped fruit and orange juice and peel, and maple syrup then fill the pot with water until the fruit is covered with about 2 inches of water. Cover the pot and set to medium-low heat and simmer for 3 hours.
  • Once the holiday cider is ready, strain and discard the fruit and spices, and add more maple syrup to the cider if needed. Serve hot or cold.
  • Top each mug with optional drink decorations and add 1 ounce of brandy before serving.

16 cups (1 gallon) apple cider
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon allspice
Pinch grated nutmeg
2 teaspoons whole cloves
1 orange
Cinnamon sticks, for garnish
2 cups bourbon, optional

Steps:

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add the apple cider. Stir in the brown sugar, allspice and nutmeg until the sugar is dissolved and bring to a low boil.
  • Stick the pointy ends of the cloves into the orange so that just the buds of the cloves are visible. The entire orange should be covered with the cloves.
  • Add the orange to the cider and reduce the heat to simmer. Cover and continue cooking for 20 minutes.
  • Serve in warm mugs with a cinnamon stick garnish. For adults, add bourbon to the cider.

Steps:

  • Add the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, and allspice berries to a slow cooker. Turn the heat setting to high, cover, and warm for 30-60 minutes, or until steaming. Once steaming, reduce the heat setting to warm.
  • Add the apples and rum and stir to combine.
  • Ladle into mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks.
  • Enjoy!
