5 lbs beef short ribs
1 cup kraft extra rich original barbecue sauce
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1 tablespoon minced garlic

Steps:

  • Place ribs in 1 or 2 large zippered plastic bags.
  • Combine BBQ sauce, soy sauce, ginger and garlic.
  • Pour 1 cup BBQ marinade over meat, turning to coat.
  • Refridgerate remaining sauce and ribs for 1 hour or up to 3 days.
  • Turn bag over occasionally.
  • Drain, discard marinade, and BBQ on medium high for 15-20 minutes turning frequently.
  • Baste with remaining sauce.

2 1/2 lbs boneless chuck short ribs
1-2 Tbsp coarse salt
1-2 Tbsp pepper
2 Tbsp olive oil, divided
2 carrots, cut into 1/4" dice
2 celery stalks, cut into 1/4" dice
1 large yellow onion, cut into 1/4" dice
3 garlic cloves, minced
3 bay leaves
1/3 cup red wine
1/3 cup crushed tomatoes
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar

Steps:

  • Season ribs with salt and pepper. Drizzle with 1 Tbsp olive oil. Heat 1 Tbsp olive oil in a large skillet. Cook ribs until just browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Transfer ribs to a slow cooker. Add carrots, celery, onion, garlic an bay leaves. Combine wine, tomatoes and vinegar in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Pour mixture into slow cooker. Cover. Cook on low 8-9 hours or on high 5 1/2 - 6 hours, turning once or twice, until meat is tender and falling off the bone. Remove ribs from the slow cooker. Process sauce in blender to desired consistency. To serve, pour sauce over ribs.
