Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 large avocados, peeled, seed removed (save 1!!)
1 medium vine-ripened tomato, seeded and finely diced
1/2 small yellow onion, finely grated (microplane)
3 clove garlic, pressed or finely grated (microplane)
juice of 1 large lime or approx. 2 tbsp
1 tsp lawry's seasoned salt or mccormick season-all
pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Prepare vegetables (avocado, tomato, onion and garlic) prepared as listed and place in medium bowl.
  • 2. Using a potato or avocado masher, mash to a slightly chunky consistency.
  • 3. Add lime juice, Lawry's/OR/McCormick seasoned salt and optional cayenne pepper. Taste-test with a chip and tweak seasoning upward if desired. Stir and serve with Tostito's scoops or other corn chips. If you plan to store before serving - use the saved avocado seed to help keep guacamole from turning brown. Cover with plastic wrap touching surface of dip to keep air out.

5 minutes with 7 ingredients (ones you usually have on hand!) to make a FANTASTIC munchie!! My "picky" mother-in-law won't eat any guacamole other than this! A GREAT condiment for my Chicken Chimichangas that's posted here!! ** NOTE:For the onion...use 1-2 thin SLICES of onion...NOT THE WHOLE onion! Recipezaar won't let me post it on the ingredients that way! =) ENJOY!!

Time 5m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 avocados (regular or Haas)
1 garlic cloves, finely chopped or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 grape tomatoes, finely chopped
1 teaspoon lime juice (fresh OR "bottled")
1 red onion, thinly sliced & finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Slice avacodos in 1/2, remove seeds.
  • Remove flesh into a bowl.
  • Add garlic.
  • Add tomatoes.
  • Add lime juice.
  • Add onion.
  • Add salt.
  • Mash all together with a fork.
  • Open bag of Tostitos corn tortilla chips or "scoops".
  • ENJOY!
  • Adjust seasonings to taste. I don't measure when I make this I just "dump" and go.
  • You may reserve the seed(s) and place in bowl AFTER mixed. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refridgerate if not using immediately. The seeds help keep the avacodo from turning brown.

The real trick to great guacamole is to use good avocados. Make sure your avocados are ripe and of the Haas variety! Serve this dip with corn chips, or an array of fresh vegetables.
