1 1/2 lb apples, like Granny Smith or Pink Lady
1/4 cup plus 3 TBS granulated sugar
1/2 cup plus 2 TBS all-purpose flour
1 TBS lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/2 lb black grapes
1/2 cup old-fashion oatmeal
1/4 cup almond slices
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 TBS unsalted butter, chopped

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • Peel and core apples, then cut into thin slices and place in a large bowl.
  • Stir in 3 TBS granulated sugar, 2 TBS flour, lemon juice, lemon zest, cinnamon and cardamom with the apples.
  • Clean grapes and remove from stems. Cut the larger grapes in half and add all the grapes in with the apples.
  • Transfer fruit mixture into a 9-inch baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup flour, oatmeal, almond slices, 1/4 cup sugar, brown sugar and salt.
  • Using your fingers, squeeze butter into the flour mixture until it resembles pebbles.
  • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit and bake until browned and bubbly, about 1 hour.
  • Serve warm or cool to room temperature.

5 apples - peeled, cored, quartered, and cut into 1/4-inch slices
½ lemon, juiced
½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup wheat and barley nugget cereal (such as Grape-Nuts®)
½ cup melted butter
¼ cup white sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
⅓ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup white sugar
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Toss sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Mix flour, rolled oats, wheat and barley nugget cereal, melted butter, 1/4 cup white sugar, and 1/4 cup brown sugar together in a large bowl.
  • Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup white sugar, and cinnamon into melted butter until sugar begins to dissolve, 3 to 4 minutes. Add apples and water; continue cooking and stirring until apples soften and are coated with sauce, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Pour apples and sugar mixture into a 2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle topping evenly over the apple filling.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the top is browned and the filling is bubbling up around the edges, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool for 10 to 15 minutes.

This was so good and smelled heavenly baking in the oven. I loved the nice crunch the grape nuts cereal gave to this dessert..We enjoyed it..and will be good with ice cream too... I know this will be good made with the other pie fillings too...yum!

1 c bisquick
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 c brown sugar,not packed
1/2 c soft margarine
1 c grape nuts cereal
garnish apple pie spice
20 oz can apple pie filling

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350^. Spray the bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan;set aside.
  • 2. Combine the bisquick,salt, baking soda, brown sugar, grape nuts cereal and margarine..sprinkle in about 1/4 teaspoon of apple pie spice.. Mix well to combine..
  • 3. Press 1/2 the mixture in the bottom of the prepared baking pan. Spread the pie filling evenly over the cereal mixture. Sprinkle with a little apple pie spice.
  • 4. Evenly distribute the remaining crumb mixture over the apple filling. Sprinkle with apple pie spice. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool on wire rack-when cool drizzle with frosting if desired.

1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups buttermilk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  • Combine flour, brown sugar, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon in a large bowl. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract; mix well. Pour mixture into prepared baking sheet and spread evenly with a spatula.
