4 to 5 mint sprigs (leaves only)
2 sugar cubes (or 1/2 ounce simple syrup)
2 1/2 ounces bourbon whiskey
Garnish: mint sprig

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Place the mint leaves and sugar or simple syrup into a julep cup, collins glass, or double old-fashioned glass.
  • Muddle well to dissolve the sugar and release the oil and aroma of the mint.
  • Add the bourbon.
  • Fill the glass with crushed ice and stir well until the glass becomes frosty.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig. Serve with a straw and enjoy.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cups sugar
2 cups water
2 cups loosely packed chopped fresh spearmint
EACH SERVING:
1/2 to 3/4 cup crushed ice
1 ounce bourbon
2 teaspoons lime juice
1-1/2 ounces ginger beer

Steps:

  • For mint syrup, place sugar, water and chopped mint in a large saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook until sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; cool completely., Strain syrup through a fine mesh strainer; discard mint. Refrigerate, covered, until cold, at least 2 hours., For each serving, place ice in a mint julep cup or rocks glass. Add bourbon, lime juice and 1/4 cup mint syrup; stir until mixture is cold. Top with beer.

2 cups cold water
1-1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup lemon juice
6 mint sprigs
5 cups ice cubes
2-1/2 cups ginger ale, chilled
Lemon slices and additional mint, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the water, sugar, lemon juice and mint. Let stand for at least 45 minutes. , Strain and discard mint. Place ice cubes in two 2-qt. pitchers; add half of the lemon mixture and ginger ale to each. Garnish with lemon and mint if desired.

¼ cup water
¼ cup white sugar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves
2 cups crushed ice
½ cup prepared lemonade
Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar and 1 tablespoon of chopped mint. Stir and bring to a boil. Cook until sugar has dissolved, then remove from heat and set aside to cool. After about an hour, strain out mint leaves.
  • Fill 2 cups or frozen goblets with crushed ice. Pour 1/2 of the lemonade into each glass and top with a splash of the sugar syrup. Garnish each with a mint sprig and a straw. Serve on a silver platter.
