OVEN-BAKED MEATBALL SANDWICHES

These Oven-Baked Meatball Sandwiches are so incredibly easy to make. Loaded with melted cheese & marinara making these perfect for your game day crowd.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1-2 pkg Carando Abruzzese Fresh Italian Meatballs
4-6 hoagie rolls
4-6 slices provolone cheese
12 ounces marinara sauce
6 cups mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese & parsley for garnish - opt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Line a large baking sheet with foil & then place the raw meatballs on it about 1″ apart.
  • Bake the meatballs for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the baking sheet, turn the meatballs over & return to the oven to bake an additional 14-17 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 185 degrees F.
  • While the meatballs are baking, spray your casserole dish with oil or cooking spray.
  • Place the buns in the prepared dish & line the inside of each bun with a slice of provolone cheese.
  • Once the meatballs are cooked, place several in each bun in between the cheese. (*note- do not turn off your oven after baking the meatballs)
  • Spoon the marinara sauce over the meatballs & then top each sandwich with a handful of mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in the 375-degree F oven for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
  • *Opt - broil for 2-5 minutes to brown the cheese before serving.
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese & parsley prior to serving.

1 package (12 ounces) Hawaiian sweet rolls
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons prepared pesto
6 slices part-skim mozzarella or provolone cheese
6 thin slices deli ham
9 thin slices hard salami
6 thin slices deli pastrami
1-1/4 cups giardiniera
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 cup fresh basil leaves
1/2 cup sliced red onion
1/4 cup prepared zesty Italian salad dressing
Pepperoncini

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350º. Cut rolls horizontally in half; place roll bottoms in a greased 11x7-in. baking dish. Mix mayonnaise and pesto until combined. Spread over cut sides of rolls. Layer bottoms with mozzarella cheese, ham, salami, pastrami, giardiniera, shredded Parmesan cheese, basil leaves and red onion. Place bun tops over filling and gently press to flatten. , Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven; brush with salad dressing. Bake until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 5 minutes longer. Cool slightly before cutting. Serve with pepperoncini and additional giardiniera if desired.

2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup whole milk
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound ground beef
1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
SAUCE:
1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 cup dry red wine or beef broth
1/3 cup water
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
6 Italian rolls, split
Shredded Parmesan cheese, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine eggs and milk; add the bread crumbs, cheese, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Add beef and sausage; mix well. Shape into 1-in. balls. Preheat broiler. Place meatballs in a 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Broil 4 in. from the heat for 4 minutes; turn and broil 3 minutes longer. , Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker. Combine the tomato sauce and paste, onion, green pepper, wine, water and seasonings; pour over meatballs. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours. Serve on rolls. Sprinkle with shredded cheese if desired.

These literally fly off the table on game day. One thing I know about men in particular... they like their meatballs! Spicy, tomatoish, cheezy, meatball goodness all in one pan. Feed many at a time. This really is a winner! One bite you will be addicted! No help for it!

1 garlic french bread
8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
2 tsp dried italian seasoning
3/4 tsp anise seed or fennel seed
3 oz butter, room temperature
3/4 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 lb frozen meatballs, thawed to room temperature
1 large jar of prego spaghetti sauce, any flavor
4 c mozzarella cheese
1/2 c parmesan cheese, grated
olive oil for drizzling on top

Steps:

  • 1. Spray 9x13 baking dish with non stick spray. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Slice the bread into 3/4 inch slices and place snugly into the baking dish.
  • 3. Combine cream cheese, butter, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and anise or fennel. Mix well and spread on top of all the bread slices.
  • 4. Cut meatballs in half and place them in tight rows over the whole top of casserole, making sure the rounded part is on top.
  • 5. Next, spoon spaghetti sauce over the top. You don't want it really soggy so just enough to lightly cover.
  • 6. Top with mozzarella cheese. Add the Parmesan cheese to the top of mozzarella. Drizzle with a little olive oil and bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes until heated through and cheese is melted to your liking! Then just use a spatula to remove them from pan and enjoy!

Steps:

  • Make meatballs by combining eggs, and milk, add breadcrumbs, cheese and seasoning then add the meats.
  • Mixwell, and shape into 1 inch balls, broil or saute until brown, and put into slow cooker.
  • Combine sauce ingredients, and pour over meatballs.
  • Cover, and cook 4-6 hours.
  • Serve on rolls with creamy red potatoes, salad, or dessert.
