AIR FRYER FRIED OREOS

Air Fryer Fried Oreos image

This carnival treat is easy to replicate at home with your air fryer. We doctored up pancake mix to create a sweet batter that gets light, golden and crisp. The key to a perfect coating is to get the batter's consistency right-so adjust as needed with extra mix.

Time 15m

Yield 12 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 large egg
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup pancake and baking mix, such as Bisquick, plus more if needed
2 tablespoons sugar
Nonstick cooking spray
12 chocolate sandwich cookies, such as Oreos
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Steps:

  • Cut 2 sheets of parchment to fit the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer without hanging over the edges and set aside. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F.
  • Whisk together the egg, milk and vanilla in a medium bowl. Add the pancake mix and sugar and whisk until smooth. The batter should be the consistency of thick cake batter to allow it to coat the cookie and hold its shape. If necessary, adjust the consistency by adding more pancake mix 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • Line the basket of the air fryer with a parchment piece and spray lightly with cooking spray. Dip 6 cookies in the batter, letting the excess drip back into the bowl. Arrange the cookies on the parchment in a single layer without touching. (Make sure to place a cookie on each of the four corners so the parchment doesn't fly up during cooking.) Air fry at 350 degrees F until the battered coating is golden brown and puffed, about 7 minutes. Remove and repeat with the remaining sheet of parchment and cookies.
  • Dust the fried Oreos with confectioners' sugar just before serving.

This is a carnival favorite where I grew up. Oreos get dipped into pancake batter and fried - yummy!! You can do this with or without a deep fryer.

2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
1 large egg
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 cup pancake mix
1 (18 ounce) package cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo®)

Steps:

  • Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Dip the cookies into the batter one at a time, and carefully place into the hot frying oil. Fry only 4 or 5 at a time to avoid overcrowding the deep fryer. Cook until the cookies are golden-brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate before serving.

FRIED OREOS

Okay, I know this is strange but it is in response to a request on the boards. Actually looks interesting and if you're going to blow calories on Oreos why not have them deep fried to boot? :)

DEEP FRIED OREOS

I had these at a local county fair and just had to try to make them. They are delicious. You can substitute your favorite dry pancake mix for the Bisquick. They are best when eaten warm. If you are want to try a lighter version, use lowfat milk, canola oil, and reduced fat Oreos.
