3 pounds apples - peeled, cored and chopped
3 cups water
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • Place apples in a large saucepan and just barely cover with water. Simmer over medium-low heat until apples are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Run cooked apples through a food mill or blender. Stir in the sugar and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat for about 3 to 5 minutes.

Steps:

  • Roughly cut up the apples without peeling or coring them and place them in a heavy saucepan with the water.
  • Cover and cook slowly, until the apples are soft, about 20 minutes.
  • Force the apples through a sieve into a bowl. If desired, sweeten the applesauce to taste with honey.

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup vegetable oil
*2 1/2 cups applesauce
2 lg. eggs
1 cup finely chopped walnuts (optional)
*i take 4 large fresh unpeeled apples and 1/8 cup sugar in a food processor to make a chunky consistancy fresh applesauce

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 baking pan. In large bowl SIFT flour, sugar, salt, baking soda baking powder,and cinnamon. In another bowl, mix with a mixer the oil, apple sauce and eggs. Pour mixture in the dry ingredients and mix with mixer until blended. Add nuts and stir. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 35 minutes. Cool and serve plain or with a very light dusting of powdered sugar.

8 cooking apples ( i use red delicious, it makes a great crisp tasting applesauce ) peeled, cored and chopped
1/2 c sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
juice of 1/2 of a lemon
1 tsp vanilla extract
use whatever cooking apple is your favorite

Steps:

  • 1. Place apples in a 5 qt pot. Add sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and vanilla. Add just enough water to cover half of the apples. ( to prevent a watery sauce )
  • 2. Bring apples to boiling, reduce heat to simmer until apples are soft.
  • 3. Hand blend or mash apples to desired consistancy. Serve warm or cold.
