Garlic Chili Spicy Edamame are an easy to prepare snack that can be on the table in 10 minutes. Made with a wonderful creamy garlic and chili paste sauce!

10 oz edamame (precooked, 283gm)
4 cloves garlic (minced)
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp chili paste
1 tbsp mayonnaise
2 tsp soy sauce
sea salt flakes

Steps:

  • In a small fry pan on medium low heat add the sesame oil and garlic. Sauté for several minutes until a golden brown, do not burn. Remove pan from heat and cool.
  • In a medium bowl mix together the sautéed garlic, chili paste, mayonnaise and soy sauce.
  • Steam edamame in a microwave safe bowl for 2 minutes. Add the warmed edamame to the garlic chili sauce and toss to coat. Season with sea salt and serve warm.

1/2 lbs frozen edamame
2-3 tsp minced garlic (packed)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tbsp water
1/4 tsp cornstarch
1/2-1 tbsp vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Mix together soy sauce, sugar, water, and cornstarch in a small bowl.
  • Heat up large skillet with 1/2-1 tbsp vegetable oil (See Note 1) under medium high heat.
  • Once skillet is heated up, add minced garlic and sauté for a minute or two, or until garlic is browned and slightly burnt (See Note 2).
  • Add the sauce to the skillet and stir for a few seconds, then immediate add frozen edamame onto the skillet.
  • Stir to coat edamame with sauce. Cook for 2-4 minutes or until edamame is warm and cooked through.
  • Serve and enjoy!

1 14-16 oz. (397-453 g) bag of frozen whole edamame in shell
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
2 whole garlic cloves (0.5 oz or 13 g)
1 teaspoon red chile pepper flakes
2 tablespoons NAKANO Roasted Garlic Vinegar
pinch of flaky sea salt (optional)

Steps:

  • Bring a medium pot of water to boil and add about 1 tablespoon of salt.
  • Cook frozen edamame in the salted boiling water for about 5 minutes or according to the package instructions.
  • Meanwhile, heat a skillet on medium heat and slice garlic cloves into thin slices. When skillet is hot add olive oil, garlic slices and red chile pepper flakes. Cook garlic until lightly browned, stirring constantly, about 1-2 minutes. Remove pan from heat to stop cooking and avoid burning the garlic.
  • Drain cooked edamame and add them to the skillet along with NAKANO Roasted Garlic Vinegar.
  • Toss everything together so edamame are evenly coated. Then transfer to a bowl.
  • Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and serve immediately.

1 package fully cooked edamame in the shell
2 T soy sauce
2 T. Garlic Chili Sauce
2 t oyster sauce (sometimes I use fish sauce)
1 t Asian sesame oil
2 t olive oil
2 t fresh ginger, peeled and minced
2 garlic cloves, minced
6 T. onions, finely minced
Optional: leaves of Basil, torn into postage-stamp sized pieces

Steps:

  • Stir the soy sauce, oyster sauce, Garlic Chili sauce, & sesame oil in a small bow and set aside. In a bit of olive oil, saute' the garlic until it is just starting to brown, and then add the onions & ginger and saute' until soft and fragrant. Add the optional basil leaves here. Add the edamame and stir to heat through, about 2 minutes. Add the bowl of soy sauce mixture; stir 1 minute to coat evenly and heat through. Transfer to platter and serve.

1 (16 ounce) package frozen edamame in the pod
¼ cup teriyaki sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Bring the water and garlic to a boil in a saucepan over high heat. Stir in the edamame, and cook until the edamame are hot, and the liquid has nearly evaporated, about 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium-high and stir in the teriyaki sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir constantly until the sauce has thickened and coats the edamame, about 4 minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds to serve.
