1 ½ cups cake flour
1 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¾ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup water
.313 cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 8 x 8 inch square pan.
  • Sift the flour, sugar, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt together. Make a well in the center and add the water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Beat until smooth and pour batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes.
  • To Make Frosting: Combine the 1/2 cup cocoa powder, sweetened condensed milk and butter in the top half of a double boiler and cook until thick. Spread warm mixture over the top of a slightly cooled cake.

200 g sweetened condensed milk
140 g self-rising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
60 ml melted butter or 60 ml margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
75 ml water

Steps:

  • Sieve the flour, baking powder and baking soda together.
  • Mix the flour mixture, condensed milk, melted butter, essence, and water and beat well.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased and dusted 6 inch diameter round tin.
  • Bake in a hot oven at 200 degrees C (400 degrees F) for 10 minutes.
  • Then reduce the temperature to 150 degrees C (300 degree F) and bake for a further 10 minutes.
  • The cake is ready when it leaves the sides of the tin and is springy to touch.
  • When ready, take out from the oven and leave for 1 minute.
  • Invert the tin over a rack and tap sharply to remove.
  • Cool the the cake on a wire rack.

3-4 very ripe bananas
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1 box yellow cake mix
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
3 large eggs
5 oz water
1/4 c oil

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a Bundt pan (or spray with baker's coating). Mash bananas very well with lemon juice and set aside.
  • 2. In large mixing bowl, stir together cake mix and spices. Add eggs, water, oil, and mashed bananas. Mix with electric mixer for 2 minutes at high speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • 3. Bake approximately 45-50 minutes, until pick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack in pan for 10 minutes. Invert and remove from pan and cool completely.
  • 4. Use 1/2 a container of your favorite frosting; microwave until it's pourable. Drizzle it over cooled cake. Some suggestions are: Cream Cheese frosting, Lemon, Caramel, or Vanilla.

1 1/2 cups flour (maida)
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup powdered milk
1 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 lemon

Steps:

  • Once you have assembled the ingredients it's time to start preparing the batter.
  • Take ¾ cup butter out of the fridge and let it soften for some time. The key is to get the butter to right temperature. We do not want the butter to melt or be rock hard.
  • Once butter is soft enough for mixing add 1 cup powdered sugar to it and mix well till it forms a smooth paste.
  • In another bowl mix the remaining dry ingredients i.e. 1 ½ cup flour (maida), 1 cup milk powder, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 ½ tsp baking powder and ½ tsp cooking soda. Mix well and keep aside.
  • Add milk and dry mixture (made in step 3) slowly to the butter-sugar paste and keep whisking. Add 1 tsp (or 40 drops) vanilla essence and juice of ½ lemon and mix well. We are now ready to bake.
  • Pre-heat the oven to 100 degree celsius for 5 minutes. Cover a baking dish with butter paper or brush it with butter and pour the batter into it. Place the baking in the oven and increase the temperature to 180 degree celcius. Your very own chocolate cake will be ready in 40 minutes.
  • Cool, cut and enjoy!
