4 lb good lean ground beef
1 large sweet onion chopped
2-6oz can(s) tomato paste
1 tsp garlic powder
1-46oz can(s) tomato juice (large can)
2 tsp black pepper
4 tsp salt (adjust as needed)
6 bay leaves
6 tsp chili powder
6 tsp paprika
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 c sugar or splenda
1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
32 oz tomato sauce

Steps:

  • 1. In a large heavy pot, add chopped onions and hamburger, break up. Cook till hamburger is browned.
  • 2. Add remaining ingredients.
  • 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a low simmer. Cook uncovered for 3-4 hours.
  • 4. Turn heat off and let sit for 15 min.
  • 5. Very important step....use stick mixer to break up sauce and make smoother, you do not want any lumps or chunks.

1 pound ground beef
⅓ cup water
½ (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
½ cup ketchup
2 ½ teaspoons chili powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon white sugar
½ teaspoon onion powder
1 dash Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Place ground beef in a large saucepan with water and mash the beef with a potato masher to break apart. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, chili powder, salt, black pepper, sugar, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat until the chili has thickened slightly and the beef is fully cooked, about 20 minutes.

3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small white onion, chopped
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 14.5-ounce can crushed tomatoes
1 cup beef broth
½ teaspoon cumin
¼ teaspoon garlic salt
pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, brown the garlic and onion. Cook until fragrant and light brown.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until there's no more pink in the meat.
  • Once the meat is just cooked, add in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cumin, garlic salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

This is a recipe that was given to my mother back in the 1950s,she gave it to me and I passed it on to my son,so three generations and still going strong,hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

1 lb hamburger
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (8 ounce) can water
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Put all ingredients in a small sauce pan,stir well.Bring to a slow boil,I usually set burner at med.low.Cook at least one hour,I cook mine for two hours usually.
  • A note about the meat,if you use plain hamburger it will be a greasy chili,which I prefer, if you don't,use ground chuck, or ground round.
