5 cups sliced peeled Granny Smith apples (4 medium)
5 cups sliced peeled Braeburn apples (4 medium)
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 cup apple cider

Steps:

  • Spray 5- to 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In slow cooker, mix apples, butter and lemon juice. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon; toss to coat. Pour cider over apples.
  • Cover; cook on Low heat setting 3 hours 30 minutes or until apples are tender.

3 lbs Gala Apples (Cored and cut into wedges)
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons Cinnamon
2 teaspoons Almond Extract
1 stick of butter (sliced)

Steps:

  • Place your apples in your 6 quart slow cooker.
  • In a bowl, mix your sugars and cinnamon and then sprinkle on top of your apples.
  • Drizzle with your extract.
  • Place butter slices evenly on top.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, occasionally stirring.

3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup granulated sugar
1 to 2 tablespoons butter (cut into small pieces)

Steps:

  • Peel the apples; core and slice them into thin wedges.
  • Place apple slices in the slow cooker. Add the cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), cornstarch, and sugar and stir to blend. Dot with the pieces of butter.
  • Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours, or until apples are tender but not mushy. Stir about halfway through cooking.

3 lbs tart apples, sliced cored, and peeled (I actually prefer to leave the peels on, but that's up to you)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 dash ground nutmeg
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup sugar
2 -3 tablespoons butter, sliced into a few thin pieces

Steps:

  • Put first 5 ingredients in your crock pot.
  • Stir well to coat the apples with all the spices.
  • Dot with butter.
  • Cook on low about 4 hours.
  • Stir once during cooking.
  • Since crock pot temperatures vary, you should check to make sure that apples are soft but not mushy like apple sauce.
  • It should have the consistency of apple pie filling.
  • This is DELICIOUS warm with vanilla ice cream!
  • It's good plain too.

(Just make sure your diners are clear it's beef and APPLE stew, because, ya know, apples and POTATOES look very similar in stew, but the taste buds get a little freaked out if they're expecting the other;-)

3 large apples, peeled and chopped into large pieces
4 medium carrots, chopped
1 large yellow onion, chopped
1 large garlic clove
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon curry (or MORE, to taste)
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 cup flour

Steps:

  • In crock pot, mix beef broth and flour well.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Cover and cook on low 10-12 hours, or high 4-6 hours.
