4 cups water
2 -4 teaspoons black tea leaves
1 teaspoon cardamom
3 -4 cinnamon sticks
1/4-1/2 cup sugar
3 cups milk (2% or whole)

Steps:

  • Simmer water, black tea leaves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks, and sugar for 10 minutes.
  • Add the milk and heat just until hot.
  • Strain and serve.

7 teaspoons tea leaves
6 cups milk
10 -15 teaspoons sugar

Steps:

  • Heat together water and tea leaves in a 3 to 4 quart saucepan.
  • Boil 10 minutes. Add milk and heat to near boiling. Strain leaves. Add sugar to taste.

1 tablespoon fennel seed
6 green cardamom pods
12 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 (1/4-inch) piece ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
6 black peppercorns
7 cups water
2 tablespoons Darjeeling tea
4 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup milk

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine fennel seed, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon stick, ginger root, peppercorns and water. Boil for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and steep for 10 minutes. Add the tea, bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer 5 minutes.
  • Strain mixture, discard spices and return the tea to the saucepan. Stir in the brown sugar and milk. Serve immediately.

4 tea bags
4 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cinnamon stick (3 inches)
2-1/2 cups boiling water
2 cups 2% milk

Steps:

  • Place cloves and peppercorns in a large bowl; with the end of a wooden spoon handle, crush spices until aromas are released., Add the tea bags, sugar, ginger, cinnamon stick and boiling water. Cover and steep for 6 minutes. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat the milk., Strain tea, discarding spices and tea bags. Stir in hot milk. Pour into mugs.

2 tea bags
1 cinnamon stick
6 cardamom pods, crushed
1 whole clove
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
2-1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup sugar
Sweetened whipped cream, ground cinnamon and cinnamon sticks, optional

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the first six ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes. , Stir in milk. Return to a boil; boil for 1 minute, then strain. Stir in sugar until dissolved. Pour into mugs. Top each with whipped cream, cinnamon and a cinnamon stick if desired.
